Hosea 5:5–7

5 Israel’s arrogance testifies against them;

the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble in their sin;

Judah also stumbles with them.

6 When they go with their flocks and herds

to seek the Lord,

they will not find him;

he has withdrawn himself from them.

7 They are unfaithful to the Lord;

they give birth to illegitimate children.

When they celebrate their New Moon feasts,

he will devour their fields.

5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face;

Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt;

Judah also shall stumble with them.

6 With their flocks and herds they shall go

to seek the Lord,

but they will not find him;

he has withdrawn from them.

7 They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord;

for they have borne alien children.

Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.

5 “The arrogance of Israel testifies against her;

Israel and Ephraim will stumble under their load of guilt.

Judah, too, will fall with them.

6 When they come with their flocks and herds

to offer sacrifices to the Lord,

they will not find him,

because he has withdrawn from them.

7 They have betrayed the honor of the Lord,

bearing children that are not his.

Now their false religion will devour them

along with their wealth.

5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face;

Therefore Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity;

Judah also stumbles with them.

6 “With their flocks and herds

They shall go to seek the Lord,

But they will not find Him;

He has withdrawn Himself from them.

7 They have dealt treacherously with the Lord,

For they have begotten pagan children.

Now a New Moon shall devour them and their heritage.

5 Israel’s pride testifies against them.

The people of Israel will stumble because of their sin,

and the people of Judah will stumble with them.

6 They will come to worship the Lord,

bringing their flocks and herds,

but they will not be able to find him,

because he has left them.

7 They have not been true to the Lord;

they are children who do not belong to him.

So their false worship

will destroy them and their land.

5 And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity; Judah also shall stumble with them. 6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find him: he hath withdrawn himself from them. 7 They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have borne strange children: now shall the new moon devour them with their fields.

5 And Israel’s pride doth testify to his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall by their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them. 6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find him: he hath withdrawn himself from them. 7 They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have begotten strange children: now shall the new moon devour them, with their allotted possessions.

5 The people of Israel’s arrogance testifies against them. 

Israel and Ephraim stumble because of their sins, 

and Judah stumbles with them. 

6 They go with their sheep and their cattle to search for the Lord, 

but they can’t find him. 

He has left them. 

7 They have been unfaithful to the Lord, 

because their children do not belong to him. 

Now their New Moon ⸤Festivals⸥ will devour them and their fields.

because of their wickedness;

even Judah will stumble with them.

to seek the Lord

but do not find Him;

He has withdrawn from them.

because they have borne illegitimate children.

Now the new moon will devour them with their fields.

5 Israel, your pride witnesses that you are guilty.

People of Ephraim, you trip and fall because you have sinned.

Judah, you fall down along with them.

6 Israel, you will come to worship me.

You will bring your animals to offer as sacrifices.

But you will not find me.

I have turned away from you.

7 You are not faithful to me.

Your children do not belong to me.

The way you act at your New Moon Feasts

will destroy you and your fields.
