9 Will you then say, “I am a god,”

in the presence of those who kill you?

You will be but a mortal, not a god,

in the hands of those who slay you.

10 You will die the death of the uncircumcised

at the hands of foreigners.

I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”

11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“ ‘You were the seal of perfection,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

9 Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’

in the presence of those who kill you,

though you are but a man, and no god,

in the hands of those who slay you?

10 You shall die the death of the uncircumcised

by the hand of foreigners;

for I have spoken, declares the Lord God.”

11 Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the signet of perfection,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

9 Will you then boast, ‘I am a god!’

to those who kill you?

To them you will be no god

but merely a man!

10 You will die like an outcast

at the hands of foreigners.

I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

11 Then this further message came to me from the Lord: 12 “Son of man, sing this funeral song for the king of Tyre. Give him this message from the Sovereign Lord:

“You were the model of perfection,

full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty.

9 “Will you still say before him who slays you,

‘I am a god’?

But you shall be a man, and not a god,

In the hand of him who slays you.

10 You shall die the death of the uncircumcised

By the hand of aliens;

For I have spoken,” says the Lord God.’ ”

11 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the seal of perfection,

Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

9 While they are killing you,

you will not be able to say anymore, “I am a god.”

You will be only a human, not a god,

when your murderers kill you.

10 You will die like an unclean person;

foreigners will kill you.

I have spoken, says the Lord God.’ ”

11 The Lord spoke his word to me, saying: 12 “Human, sing a funeral song for the king of Tyre. Say to him: ‘This is what the Lord God says:

You were an example of what was perfect,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee. 10 Thou shalt die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah.

11 Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

9 Wilt thou then say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not •God, in the hand of him that pierceth thee. 10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised, by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah.

11 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou, who sealest up the measure of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty,

9 You will no longer say that you are a god 

when you face those who kill you. 

You will be a human, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you. 

10 You will die at the hands of foreigners like a godless person. 

I have spoken,’ ” declares the Lord. 

11 The Lord spoke his word to me. He said, 12 “Son of man, sing a funeral song for the ruler of Tyre. Tell him, ‘This is what the Almighty Lord says: 

You were the perfect example, 

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 

9 Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’

in the presence of those who kill you?

Yet you will be only a man, not a god,

in the hands of those who kill you.

10 You will die the death of the uncircumcised

at the hands of strangers.

For I have spoken.

This is the declaration of the Lord God.

11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, lament for the king of Tyre and say to him: This is what the Lord God says:

You were the seal of perfection,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

9 Will you indeed still say “I am a god!”

before the face of your killers?

And in fact you are a human and not a god

in the hand of those who pierce you.

10 You will die the death of the uncircumcised

by the hand of strangers,

for I myself have spoken!” declares the Lord Yahweh.

11 And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 12 “Son of man, raise a lament over the king of Tyre, and you must say to him, ‘thus says the Lord Yahweh:

“You were a perfect model of an example,

full of wisdom and perfect of beauty.

9 Then will you say, ‘I am a god’?

Will you say that to those who kill you?

You will be only a man to those who kill you.

You will not be a god to them.

10 You will die just like those who have not been circumcised.

Strangers will kill you.

I have spoken,” announces the Lord and King.

11 A message came to me from the Lord. He said, 12 “Son of man, sing a song of sadness about the king of Tyre. Tell him, ‘The Lord and King says,

“ ‘ “You were the model of perfection.

You were full of wisdom.

You were perfect and beautiful.

9 ‘Will you still say, “I am a god,”

In the presence of your slayer,

Though you are a man and not God,

In the hands of those who wound you?

10 ‘You will die the death of the uncircumcised

By the hand of strangers,

For I have spoken!’ declares the Lord God!” ’ ”

11 Again the word of the Lord came to me saying,

12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God,

“You had the seal of perfection,

Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
