Acts 7:46–50

46 who enjoyed God’s favor and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. 47 But it was Solomon who built a house for him.

48 “However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says:

49 “ ‘Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool.

What kind of house will you build for me?

says the Lord.

Or where will my resting place be?

50 Has not my hand made all these things?’

46 who found favor in the sight of God and asked to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. 47 But it was Solomon who built a house for him. 48 Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,

49 “ ‘Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool.

What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,

or what is the place of my rest?

50 Did not my hand make all these things?’

46 “David found favor with God and asked for the privilege of building a permanent Temple for the God of Jacob. 47 But it was Solomon who actually built it. 48 However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says,

49 ‘Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool.

Could you build me a temple as good as that?’

asks the Lord.

‘Could you build me such a resting place?

50 Didn’t my hands make both heaven and earth?’

46 who found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob. 47 But Solomon built Him a house.

48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is My throne,

And earth is My footstool.

What house will you build for Me? says the Lord,

Or what is the place of My rest?

50 Has My hand not made all these things?’

46 who pleased God and asked God to let him build a house for him, the God of Jacob. 47 But Solomon was the one who built the Temple.

48 “But the Most High does not live in houses that people build with their hands. As the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool.

So do you think you can build a house for me? says the Lord.

Do I need a place to rest?

50 Remember, my hand made all these things!’ ”

46 who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob. 47 But Solomon built him a house. 48 Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in houses made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49 The heaven is my throne,

And the earth the footstool of my feet:

What manner of house will ye build me? saith the Lord:

Or what is the place of my rest?

50 Did not my hand make all these things?

46 who found favour before God, and asked to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob; 47 but Solomon built him a house. 48 But the Most High dwells not in places made with hands; as says the prophet, 49 The heaven is my throne and the earth the footstool of my feet: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord, or where is the place of my rest? 50 has not my hand made all these things?

46 who won God’s favor. David asked that he might provide a permanent place for the family of Jacob.47 But Solomon was the one who built a house for God. 

48 “However, the Most High doesn’t live in a house built by humans, as the prophet says: 

49 ‘The Lord says, 

“Heaven is my throne. 

The earth is my footstool. 

What kind of house are you going to build for me? 

Where will I rest? 

50 Didn’t I make all these things?” ’

46 David was blessed by God. So David asked if he could build a house for the God of Jacob. 47 Instead, it was Solomon who built it for him.

48 “But the Most High God does not live in houses made by human hands. As God says through the prophet,

49 “ ‘Heaven is my throne.

The earth is under my control.

What kind of house will you build for me?

says the Lord.

Where will my resting place be?

50 Didn’t my hand make all these things?’

47 “But it was Solomon who built a house for Him.

48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is My throne,

And earth is the footstool of My feet;

What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord,

‘Or what place is there for My repose?

50 ‘Was it not My hand which made all these things?’
