Jude 1–20

*aJude, bthe servant of Jesus Christ, and cbrother of dJames, eto them that are sanctified by God the Father, and fpreserved in Jesus Christ, and gcalled: hmercy unto you, and ipeace, and love, be multiplied.

Beloved, when I gave all kdiligence to write unto you of the lcommon msalvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that nye should earnestly contend for othe faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For pthere are certain men ppcrept in unawares, qwho were rbefore of old ordained to this scondemnation, ungodly men, tturning uthe grace of our God into vlasciviousness, and wdenying the only pLord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore xput you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that ythe Lord, having saved pthe people out of the land of Egypt, afterward zdestroyed athem that believed not. And bthe angels which kept not their ||first estate, but left their own habitation, bhe hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto cthe judgment of dthe great day. Even as eSodom and Gomorrha, and fthe cities about them, in like manner giving themselves over to fornication, and going gafter strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering hthe vengeance of ieternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers gdefile the flesh, gkdespise dominion, and gspeak evil of dignities. Yet lMichael mthe archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed nabout the body of Moses, odurst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, pThe Lord rebuke thee. 10 But qthese speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, qas brute beasts, rin those things qthey corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of sCain, and tran greedily after the error of uBalaam for reward, and vperished in the wgainsaying of Core.

12 These are spots in your feasts of charity xwhen they feast with you, yfeeding themselves without fear: zclouds they are without water, acarried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, bwithout fruit, twice dead, cplucked up by the roots; 13 draging waves of the sea, dfoaming out their own eshame; wandering stars, fto whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. 14 And Enoch also, gthe seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, hthe Lord cometh iwith ten thousands of his saints, 15 kto execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have lungodly committed, and of all their mhard speeches which nungodly sinners have spoken against him.

16 These are omurmurers, complainers, pwalking after their own lusts; and their mouth qspeaketh great swelling words, rhaving men’s persons sin admiration tbecause of advantage. 17 But, beloved, uremember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 how that they told you vthere should be mockers in the last time, vwho should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they wwho separate themselves, xsensual, yhaving not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, zbuilding up yourselves on your most holy faith, apraying in the Holy Ghost,

11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

Jude 11 — English Standard Version (ESV)

11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.

Jude 11 — New Living Translation (NLT)

11 What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother. Like Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.

11 Woe unto them! for they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.

11 How terrible it will be for them! They followed the way of Cain. They rushed ahead and made the same mistake as Balaam did. They did it because they loved money. They are like Korah. He turned against his leaders. Those people will certainly be destroyed, just as Korah was.

Jude 11 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
