The Future of Bible Study Is Here.
Isaiah 47
47aCome down, and sit in the dust, O virgin bdaughter of Babylon, cSit on the ground: dthere is no throne, eO daughter of the Chaldeans: For thou shalt no more be called ftender and delicate. 2 gTake the millstones, and hgrind meal: Uncover thy ilocks, make bare the leg, kUncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. 3 kThy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: lI will take vengeance, and I will not mmeet thee as a man. 4 As for noour redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, nThe Holy One of Israel. 5 Sit thou psilent, and get thee into pdarkness, eO daughter of the Chaldeans: qFor thou shalt no more be called, rThe lady of kingdoms.
6 sI was wroth with tmy people, uI have polluted tmine inheritance, And given them into thine hand: Thou didst shew them no mercy; vUpon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
7 And wthou saidst, I shall be ra lady for ever: So that thou didst not xlay these things to thy heart, Neither didst remember ythe latter end of it. 8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, zthat dwellest carelessly, zaThat sayest in thine heart, bI am, and none else beside me; cI shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know dthe loss of children: 9 But ethese two things shall come to thee fin a moment gin one day, dThe loss of children, and widowhood: They shall come upon thee in their perfection hFor the multitude of thy isorceries, and for the great abundance of hthine ienchantments.
10 For thou khast trusted in thy wickedness: lthou hast said, None seeth me. mThy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath ||perverted thee; And athou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
11 Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know †from whence it riseth: And nmischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to †put it off: And odesolation shall come upon thee fsuddenly, which pthou shalt not know. 12 qStand now hwith thine enchantments, and hwith the multitude of thy sorceries, Wherein sthou hast laboured from thy youth; If so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest rprevail. 13 sThou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. tLet now the †astrologers, the stargazers, †the monthly prognosticators, Stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. 14 Behold, they shall be uas stubble; the fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver †themselves from the power of the flame: There shall not be a coal to warm at, nor vfire to sit before it. 15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even wthy merchants, from thy youth: They shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.
