6 We have heard of Moab’s pride—

how great is her arrogance!—

of her conceit, her pride and her insolence;

but her boasts are empty.

7 Therefore the Moabites wail,

they wail together for Moab.

Lament and grieve

for the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab—

how proud he is!—

of his arrogance, his pride, and his insolence;

in his idle boasting he is not right.

7 Therefore let Moab wail for Moab,

let everyone wail.

Mourn, utterly stricken,

for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth.

6 We have heard about proud Moab—

about its pride and arrogance and rage.

But all that boasting has disappeared.

7 The entire land of Moab weeps.

Yes, everyone in Moab mourns

for the cakes of raisins from Kir-hareseth.

They are all gone now.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab—

He is very proud—

Of his haughtiness and his pride and his wrath;

But his lies shall not be so.

7 Therefore Moab shall wail for Moab;

Everyone shall wail.

For the foundations of Kir Hareseth you shall mourn;

Surely they are stricken.

6 We have heard that the people of Moab are proud

and very conceited.

They are very proud and angry,

but their bragging means nothing.

7 So the people of Moab will cry;

they will all be sad.

They will moan and groan

for the raisin cakes they had in Kir Hareseth.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud; even of his arrogancy, and his pride, and his wrath; his boastings are nought. 7 Therefore shall Moab wail for Moab, every one shall wail: for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth shall ye mourn, utterly stricken.

6 We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, —he is very proud, —of his pride, and his arrogance, and his wrath: his pratings are vain. 7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab; every one of them shall howl. For the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn, verily afflicted.

6 We’ve heard of the arrogance of Moab’s people. 

They are very arrogant. 

We’ve heard of their boasting, arrogance, and conceit, 

but their boasts aren’t true. 

7 That is why Moab will wail. 

Everyone will wail for Moab. 

Mourn and grieve over the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth. 

6 We have heard of Moab’s pride —

7 Therefore let Moab wail;

let every one of them wail for Moab.

Mourn, you who are completely devastated,

for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth.

of his arrogance, his pride, and his insolence;

his boasts are false.

7 Therefore let Moab wail,

let everyone wail for Moab.

Mourn, utterly stricken,

for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab—exceedingly proud—

of his arrogance, pride, and insolence; his boasting is not true.

7 Therefore Moab wails;

all of it wails for Moab,

for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth you moan, utterly devastated.

6 We have heard all about Moab’s pride.

We have heard how very proud they are.

They think they are so much better than others.

They brag about themselves.

But all of their bragging is nothing but empty words.

7 So the people of Moab cry out.

All of them cry over their country.

Sing a song of sadness.

Sob over the men of Kir Hareseth.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab, an excessive pride;

Even of his arrogance, pride, and fury;

His idle boasts are false.

7 Therefore Moab will wail; everyone of Moab will wail.

You will moan for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth

As those who are utterly stricken.
