Exodus 33:9–11

And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the rcloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord rtalked with Moses. 10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and sworshipped, every man in his tent door. 11 And tthe Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but uhis servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Exodus 33:9–11 — The New International Version (NIV)

As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. 11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
