1 Kings 16:1–6
*Then the word of the Lord came to aJehu the son of bHanani against Baasha, saying, 2 cForasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and dthou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins; 3 Behold, I will etake away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like fthe house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 4 gHim that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat. 5 Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 6 So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in hTirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

You have provoked my anger by causing my people Israel to sin. 3 So now I will destroy you and your family, just as I destroyed the descendants of Jeroboam son of Nebat. 4 The members of Baasha’s family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by vultures.”
5 The rest of the events in Baasha’s reign and the extent of his power are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Israel. 6 When Baasha died, he was buried in Tirzah. Then his son Elah became the next king.

3 “So I am about to destroy you and your royal house. I will make your house like the royal house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. 4 Some of the people who belong to you will die in the city. Dogs will eat them up. Others will die in the country. The birds of the air will eat them.”
5 The other events of Baasha’s rule are written down. What he did and what he accomplished are written down. All of those things are written in the official records of the kings of Israel. 6 Baasha joined the members of his family who had already died. His body was buried in Tirzah. His son Elah became the next king after him.
