1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head,

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

I am so glad that you always keep me in your thoughts, and that you are following the teachings I passed on to you. But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. A man dishonors his head if he covers his head while praying or prophesying.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

I praise you because you remember me in everything, and you follow closely the teachings just as I gave them to you. But I want you to understand this: The head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings shame to his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Now I praise you, that in all things ye are mindful of me; and that as I have directed you, ye keep the directions. But I wish you to know that the Christ is the head of every man, but woman’s head is the man, and the Christ’s head God. Every man praying or prophesying, having anything on his head, puts his head to shame.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I praise you for always thinking about me and for carefully following the traditions that I handed down to you.

However, I want you to realize that Christ has authority over every man, a husband has authority over his wife, and God has authority over Christ. Every man who covers his head when he prays or speaks what God has revealed dishonors the one who has authority over him.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Now I praise you because you always remember me and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ. Every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head dishonors his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I handed them on to you. But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the husband is the head of his wife, and God is the head of Christ. Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head,

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Now I praise you that you remember me in all things, and just as I handed over to you the traditions, you hold fast to them. But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of the woman, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies while having something on his head dishonors his head,

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

I praise you for being faithful in remembering me. I also praise you for staying true to all my teachings, just as I gave them to you.

Now I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ. The head of the woman is the man. And the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings shame on his head.

1 Corinthians 11:2–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Now I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you.

But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.

Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying disgraces his head.
