they practice divination like the Philistines

and embrace pagan customs.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

O house of Jacob, come ye,

Because they be replenished from the east,

And are soothsayers like the Philistines,

And they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Come, descendants of Jacob,

let us walk in the light of the Lord!

For the Lord has rejected his people,

the descendants of Jacob,

and with sorcerers, as the Philistines do.

They have made alliances with pagans.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

O house of Jacob, come and let us walk

And they are pleased with the children of foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

Come, family of Jacob,

and let us follow the way of the Lord.

the family of Jacob,

because they have become filled with wrong ideas from people in the East.

They try to tell the future like the Philistines,

and they have completely accepted those foreign ideas.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Isaiah 2:5–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

For thou hast cast off thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with what comes from the east, and use auguries like the Philistines, and ally themselves with the children of foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Come, descendants of Jacob,

Lord, you have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob,

because they are filled with Eastern influences.

They are fortunetellers like the Philistines,

and they make deals with foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

House of Jacob,

For You have abandoned Your people,

the house of Jacob,

They are in league with foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

O house of Jacob,

come, let us walk

and of soothsayers like the Philistines,

and they clasp hands with foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

and they make alliances with the offspring of foreigners.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

People of Jacob, come.

Let us live the way the Lord has taught us to.

Lord, you have deserted the people of Jacob.

They are your people.

The land is full of false beliefs from the east.

The people practice evil magic, just as the Philistines do.

They make ungodly people their friends.

Isaiah 2:5–6 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Come, house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.

For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob,
