Jude’s Purpose in Writing

Dear friends, although I was eager to write you about the salvation we share, g I found it necessary to write and exhort you to contend for the faith h that was delivered i to the * saints once for all.

Jude 3 — The New International Version (NIV)

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

Jude 3 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
