Ecclesiastes 7:10–13
10 Don’t say, “Why were the former days better than these?” r
since it is not wise of you to ask this.

and the advantage of knowledge
is that wisdom preserves the life of its owner. s

for who can straighten out
what He has made crooked? u

12 Wisdom is a shelter
as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
Wisdom preserves those who have it.
13 Consider what God has done:
Who can straighten
what he has made crooked?
Ecclesiastes 7:10–13 — English Standard Version (ESV)

13 Consider the work of God:
who can make straight what he has made crooked?
Ecclesiastes 7:10–13 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
10 Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this. 11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. 12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. 13 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?
Ecclesiastes 7:10–13 — New Living Translation (NLT)

This is not wise.

They both help those who are alive.
12 Wisdom is like money:
they both help.
But wisdom is better,
because it can save whoever has it.
13 Look at what God has done:
No one can straighten what he has bent.
