Psalm 78:40–43 — The New International Version (NIV)
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness
and grieved him in the wasteland!
41 Again and again they put God to the test;
they vexed the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his power—
the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,
43 the day he displayed his signs in Egypt,
his wonders in the region of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness,
And grieve him in the desert!
41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God,
And limited the Holy One of Israel.
42 They remembered not his hand,
Nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt,
And his wonders in the field of Zoan:
Psalm 78:40–43 — New Living Translation (NLT)
40 Oh, how often they rebelled against him in the wilderness
and grieved his heart in that dry wasteland.
41 Again and again they tested God’s patience
and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his power
and how he rescued them from their enemies.
43 They did not remember his miraculous signs in Egypt,
his wonders on the plain of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
40 How often they provoked Him in the wilderness,
And grieved Him in the desert!
41 Yes, again and again they tempted God,
And limited the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember His power:
The day when He redeemed them from the enemy,
43 When He worked His signs in Egypt,
And His wonders in the field of Zoan;
Psalm 78:40–43 — New Century Version (NCV)
40 They turned against God so often in the desert
and grieved him there.
41 Again and again they tested God
and brought pain to the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his power
or the time he saved them from the enemy.
43 They forgot the signs he did in Egypt
and his wonders in the fields of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — American Standard Version (ASV)
40 How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness,
And grieve him in the desert!
41 And they turned again and tempted God,
And provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 They remembered not his hand,
Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43 How he set his signs in Egypt,
And his wonders in the field of Zoan,
Psalm 78:40–43 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! 41 And they turned again and tempted •God, and grieved the Holy One of Israel. 42 They remembered not his hand, the day when he delivered them from the oppressor, 43 How he set his signs in Egypt, and his miracles in the field of Zoan;
Psalm 78:40–43 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness!
How often they caused him grief in the desert!
41 Again and again they tested God,
and they pushed the Holy One of Israel to the limit.
42 They did not remember his power—
the day he freed them from their oppressor,
43 when he performed his miraculous signs in Egypt,
his wonders in the fields of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
40 How often they rebelled against Him
in the wilderness
and grieved Him in the desert.
41 They constantly tested God
and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember His power shown
on the day He redeemed them from the foe,
43 when He performed His miraculous signs in Egypt
and His wonders in the region of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness
and grieved him in the desert!
41 They tested God again and again,

42 They did not keep in mind his power,
or the day when he redeemed them from the foe;
43 when he displayed his signs in Egypt,
and his miracles in the fields of Zoan.
Psalm 78:40–43 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness
and vexed him in the wasteland!
41 So they again tested God
and distressed the Holy One of Israel.
42 And they did not remember his power
when he redeemed them from the enemy,
43 how he performed his signs in Egypt
and his wonders in the region of Zoan,
Psalm 78:40–43 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

How often they caused him sorrow in that dry and empty land!
41 Again and again they put God to the test.
They made the Holy One of Israel sad and angry.
42 They didn’t remember his power.
They forgot the day he set them free
from those who had beaten them down.
43 They forgot how he had shown them his miraculous signs in Egypt.
They forgot his miracles in the area of Zoan.

And grieved Him in the desert!
