aHe alone is my rock and my salvation,

my bfortress; cI shall not be greatly shaken.

For God alone, O ymy soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

Psalm 62:2–6 — The New International Version (NIV)

Truly he is my rock and my salvation;

he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

How long will you assault me?

Would all of you throw me down—

this leaning wall, this tottering fence?

Surely they intend to topple me

from my lofty place;

they take delight in lies.

With their mouths they bless,

but in their hearts they curse.

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;

my hope comes from him.

Truly he is my rock and my salvation;

he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man?

Ye shall be slain all of you:

As a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast him down from his excellency:

They delight in lies:

They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

My soul, wait thou only upon God;

For my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation:

He is my defence; I shall not be moved.

Psalm 62:2–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress where I will never be shaken.

So many enemies against one man—

all of them trying to kill me.

To them I’m just a broken-down wall

or a tottering fence.

They plan to topple me from my high position.

They delight in telling lies about me.

They praise me to my face

but curse me in their hearts.

Interlude

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,

for my hope is in him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress where I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;

I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will you attack a man?

You shall be slain, all of you,

Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast him down from his high position;

They delight in lies;

They bless with their mouth,

But they curse inwardly.

Selah

My soul, wait silently for God alone,

For my expectation is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;

I shall not be moved.

Psalm 62:2–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

He is my rock and my salvation.

He is my defender;

I will not be defeated.

How long will you attack someone?

Will all of you kill that person?

Who is like a leaning wall, like a fence ready to fall?

They are planning to make that person fall.

They enjoy telling lies.

With their mouths they bless,

but in their hearts they curse.

Selah

I find rest in God;

only he gives me hope.

He is my rock and my salvation.

He is my defender;

I will not be defeated.

Psalm 62:2–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

He only is my rock and my salvation:

He is my high tower;

I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will ye set upon a man,

That ye may slay him, all of you,

Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity;

They delight in lies;

They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah

My soul, wait thou in silence for God only;

For my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation:

He is my high tower;

I shall not be moved.

Psalm 62:2–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

He only is my rock and my salvation; my high fortress: I shall not be greatly moved. How long will ye assail a man; will ye seek, all of you, to break him down as a bowing wall or a tottering fence? They only consult to thrust him down from his excellency; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but in their inward part they curse. Selah. Upon God alone, O my soul, rest peacefully; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation; my high fortress: I shall not be moved.

Psalm 62:2–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

He alone is my rock and my savior—my stronghold.

I cannot be severely shaken.

How long will all of you attack a person?

How long will you try to murder him,

as though he were a leaning wall or a sagging fence?

They plan to force him out of his high position.

They are happy to lie.

They bless with their mouths,

but in their hearts they curse.

Selah

Wait calmly for God alone, my soul,

because my hope comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my savior—my stronghold.

I cannot be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my stronghold; I will never be shaken.

How long will you threaten a man?

Will all of you attack

as if he were a leaning wall

or a tottering stone fence?

They only plan to bring him down

from his high position.

They take pleasure in lying;

they bless with their mouths,

but they curse inwardly. Selah

Rest in God alone, my soul,

for my hope comes from Him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my stronghold; I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall never be shaken.

How long will you assail a person,

will you batter your victim, all of you,

as you would a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

Their only plan is to bring down a person of prominence.

They take pleasure in falsehood;

they bless with their mouths,

but inwardly they curse. Selah

For God alone my soul waits in silence,

for my hope is from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Only he is my rock and my salvation,

my high stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

How long will you attack a man?

All of you will be shattered

like a leaning wall, a tottering fence.

They only plan to thrust him down from his high position;

they are pleased with deception.

With their mouths they bless,

but inwardly they curse. Selah

Only for God wait in silence, O my soul,

because my hope is from him.

Only he is my rock and my salvation,

my high stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

Psalm 62:2–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

He alone is my rock. He is the One who saves me.

He is like a fort to me. I will always be secure.

How long will you enemies attack me?

Will all of you throw me down?

I’m like a leaning wall.

I’m like a fence that is about to fall.

You only want to pull me down

from my place of honor.

You take delight in telling lies.

You bless me with what you say.

But in your hearts you call down curses on me. Selah

I will find my rest in God alone.

He is the One who gives me hope.

He alone is my rock. He is the One who saves me.

He is like a fort to me. I will always be secure.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

How long will you assail a man,

That you may murder him, all of you,

Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;

They delight in falsehood;

They bless with their mouth,

But inwardly they curse.

Selah.

My soul, wait in silence for God only,

For my hope is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
