Psalm 58:6–9 — The New International Version (NIV)
6 Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;
Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!
7 Let them vanish like water that flows away;
when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.
8 May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,
like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—
whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.
Psalm 58:6–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth:
Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.
7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually:
When he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away:
Like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns,
He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
Psalm 58:6–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)
6 Break off their fangs, O God!
Smash the jaws of these lions, O Lord!
7 May they disappear like water into thirsty ground.
Make their weapons useless in their hands.
8 May they be like snails that dissolve into slime,
like a stillborn child who will never see the sun.
9 God will sweep them away, both young and old,
faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.
Psalm 58:6–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Break their teeth in their mouth, O God!
Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
7 Let them flow away as waters which run continually;
When he bends his bow,
Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces.
8 Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes,
Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the burning thorns,
He shall take them away as with a whirlwind,
As in His living and burning wrath.
Psalm 58:6–9 — New Century Version (NCV)
6 God, break the teeth in their mouths!
Tear out the fangs of those lions, Lord!
7 Let them disappear like water that flows away.
Let them be cut short like a broken arrow.
8 Let them be like snails that melt as they move.
Let them be like a child born dead who never saw the sun.
9 His anger will blow them away alive
faster than burning thorns can heat a pot.
Psalm 58:6–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)
6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth:
Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.
7 Let them melt away as water that runneth apace:
When he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.
8 Let them be as a snail which melteth and passeth away,
Like the untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns,
He will take them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.
Psalm 58:6–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
6 O God, break their teeth in their mouth; break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah. 7 Let them melt away as waters that flow off; when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as blunted: 8 Let them be as a snail that melteth as it passeth away; like the untimely birth of a woman, let them not see the sun. 9 Before your pots feel the thorns, green or burning, —they shall be whirled away.
Psalm 58:6–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
6 O God, knock the teeth out of their mouths.
Break the young lions’ teeth, O Lord.
7 Let them disappear like water that drains away.
When they aim their bows, let their arrows miss the target.
8 Let them become like a snail that leaves behind a slimy trail
or like a stillborn child who never sees the sun.
9 Let ⸤God⸥ sweep them away
faster than a cooking pot is heated by burning twigs.
Psalm 58:6–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
6 God, knock the teeth out of their mouths;
Lord, tear out the young lions’ fangs.
7 They will vanish like water that flows by;
they will aim their useless arrows.

like a woman’s miscarried child,
they will not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—
whether green or burning—
He will sweep them away.

whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!

Break off the fangs of the young lions, O Yahweh.

When he bends the bow, let his arrows be as though they were cut off.

like the stillborn of woman that do not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the heat of a thornbush,
whether green or dry, he will sweep it away.

6 God, break the teeth in the mouths of those sinners!
Lord, tear out the sharp teeth of those lions!
7 Let those people disappear like water that flows away.
When they draw their bows, let their arrows be dull.
8 Let them be like a slug that melts away as it moves along.
Let them be like a baby that is born dead and never sees the sun.
9 Evil people will be swept away quicker than a pot can feel the heat of thorns burning under it.
And it doesn’t matter if the thorns are green or dry.
Psalm 58:6–9 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
6 O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth;
Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord.
7 Let them flow away like water that runs off;
When he aims his arrows, let them be as headless shafts.
8 Let them be as a snail which melts away as it goes along,
Like the miscarriages of a woman which never see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns
He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.
