Psalm 106:25–29

25 They grumbled in their tents

and did not obey the Lord.

26 So he swore to them with uplifted hand

that he would make them fall in the wilderness,

27 make their descendants fall among the nations

and scatter them throughout the lands.

28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor

and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;

29 they aroused the Lord’s anger by their wicked deeds,

and a plague broke out among them.

25 But murmured in their tents,

And hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them,

To overthrow them in the wilderness:

27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations,

And to scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor,

And ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions:

And the plague brake in upon them.

25 Instead, they grumbled in their tents

and refused to obey the Lord.

26 Therefore, he solemnly swore

that he would kill them in the wilderness,

27 that he would scatter their descendants among the nations,

exiling them to distant lands.

28 Then our ancestors joined in the worship of Baal at Peor;

they even ate sacrifices offered to the dead!

29 They angered the Lord with all these things,

so a plague broke out among them.

25 But complained in their tents,

And did not heed the voice of the Lord.

26 Therefore He raised up His hand in an oath against them,

To overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 To overthrow their descendants among the nations,

And to scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor,

And ate sacrifices made to the dead.

29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds,

And the plague broke out among them.

25 They grumbled in their tents

and did not obey the Lord.

26 So he swore to them

that they would die in the desert.

27 He said their children would be killed by other nations

and that they would be scattered among other countries.

28 They joined in worshiping Baal at Peor

and ate meat that had been sacrificed to lifeless statues.

29 They made the Lord angry by what they did,

so many people became sick with a terrible disease.

25 But murmured in their tents: they hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah. 26 And he lifted up his hand to them, that he would make them fall in the wilderness; 27 And that he would make their seed fall among the nations, and disperse them through the countries. 28 And they joined themselves unto Baal-Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead; 29 And they provoked him to anger with their doings; and a plague broke out among them.

They did not obey the Lord. 

26 Raising his hand, he swore 

that he would kill them in the wilderness, 

27 kill their descendants among the nations, 

and scatter them throughout various lands. 

28 They joined in worshiping the god Baal while they were at Peor, 

and they ate what was sacrificed to the dead. 

29 They infuriated God by what they did, 

and a plague broke out among them. 

25 They grumbled in their tents

and did not listen to the Lord’s voice.

26 So He raised His hand against them with an oath

that He would make them fall in the desert

27 and would disperse their descendants

among the nations,

scattering them throughout the lands.

28 They aligned themselves with Baal of Peor

and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.

29 They provoked the Lord with their deeds,

and a plague broke out against them.

25 They grumbled in their tents

29 they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds,

and a plague broke out among them.

They did not obey the voice of Yahweh.

26 So he made an oath against them,

to make them drop in the wilderness,

27 and to disperse their descendants among the nations

and to scatter them among the lands.

28 They also attached themselves to Baal of Peor,

and they ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

29 Thus they provoked to anger by their deeds,

and a plague broke out among them.

25 In their tents they told the Lord how unhappy they were.

They didn’t obey him.

26 So he lifted up his hand and promised with an oath

that he would make them die in the desert.

27 He promised he would scatter their children’s children among the nations.

He would make them die in other lands.

28 They joined in worshiping the Baal that was worshiped at Peor.

They ate food that had been offered to gods that aren’t even alive.

29 Their evil ways made the Lord angry.

So a plague broke out among them.

25 But grumbled in their tents;

They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.

26 Therefore He swore to them

That He would cast them down in the wilderness,

27 And that He would cast their seed among the nations

And scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also to Baal-peor,

And ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds,

And the plague broke out among them.
