9 Whatever they plot against the Lord

he will bring to an end;

trouble will not come a second time.

10 They will be entangled among thorns

and drunk from their wine;

they will be consumed like dry stubble.

9 What do ye imagine against the Lord?

He will make an utter end:

Affliction shall not rise up the second time.

10 For while they be folden together as thorns,

And while they are drunken as drunkards,

They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

9 Why are you scheming against the Lord?

He will destroy you with one blow;

he won’t need to strike twice!

10 His enemies, tangled like thornbushes

and staggering like drunks,

will be burned up like dry stubble in a field.

9 What do you conspire against the Lord?

He will make an utter end of it.

Affliction will not rise up a second time.

10 For while tangled like thorns,

And while drunken like drunkards,

They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.

9 The Lord will completely destroy

anyone making plans against him.

Trouble will not come a second time.

10 Those people will be like tangled thorns

or like people drunk from their wine;

they will be burned up quickly like dry weeds.

9 What do ye devise against Jehovah? he will make a full end; affliction shall not rise up the second time. 10 For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble.

9 What do ye imagine against Jehovah? He will make a full end: trouble shall not rise up the second time. 10 Though they be tangled together as thorns, and be as drenched from their drink, they shall be devoured as dry stubble, completely.

9 What do you think about the Lord? 

He is the one who will bring Nineveh to an end. 

This trouble will never happen again. 

10 ⸤The people of Nineveh will be⸥ like tangled thorns 

and like people drunk on their own drink. 

They will be completely burned up like very dry straw. 

9 Whatever you plot against the Lord,

He will bring it to complete destruction;

oppression will not rise up a second time.

10 For they will be consumed

like entangled thorns,

like the drink of a drunkard

and like straw that is fully dry.

9 Why do you plot against the Lord?

He will make an end;

no adversary will rise up twice.

10 Like thorns they are entangled,

like drunkards they are drunk;

they are consumed like dry straw.

9 What do you plot against Yahweh?

He will completely destroy it;

trouble will not rise up a second time!

10 For like entangled thorns,

and like their drink which is drunk,

they will be consumed like fully dry chaff.

9 The Lord will put an end

to anything they plan against him.

He won’t allow Assyria to win the battle

over his people a second time.

10 His enemies will be tangled up among thorns.

Their wine will make them drunk.

They’ll be burned up like dry straw.

9 Whatever you devise against the Lord,

He will make a complete end of it.

Distress will not rise up twice.

10 Like tangled thorns,

And like those who are drunken with their drink,

They are consumed

As stubble completely withered.
