33 For he does not willingly bring affliction

or grief to anyone.

34 To crush underfoot

all prisoners in the land,

35 to deny people their rights

before the Most High,

36 to deprive them of justice—

would not the Lord see such things?

33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. 34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth, 35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High, 36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

33 For he does not enjoy hurting people

or causing them sorrow.

34 If people crush underfoot

all the prisoners of the land,

35 if they deprive others of their rights

in defiance of the Most High,

36 if they twist justice in the courts—

doesn’t the Lord see all these things?

33 For He does not afflict willingly,

Nor grieve the children of men.

34 To crush under one’s feet

All the prisoners of the earth,

35 To turn aside the justice due a man

Before the face of the Most High,

36 Or subvert a man in his cause—

The Lord does not approve.

33 He does not like to punish people

or make them sad.

34 He sees if any prisoner of the earth

is crushed under his feet;

35 he sees if someone is treated unfairly

before the Most High God;

36 the Lord sees

if someone is cheated in his case in court.

33 For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. 34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, 35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, 36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

33 for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men. 34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, 35 to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, 36 to wrong a man in his cause, —will not the Lord see it?

33 He does not willingly bring suffering or grief to anyone, 

34 crush any prisoner on earth underfoot, 

35 deny people their rights in the presence of the Most High God, 

36 or deprive people of justice in court. 

The Lord isn’t happy to see ⸤these things⸥. 

33 For He does not enjoy bringing affliction

beneath one’s feet,

35 denying justice to a man

in the presence of the Most High,

36 or suppressing a person’s lawsuit —

the Lord does not approve of these things.

are crushed under foot,

35 when human rights are perverted

in the presence of the Most High,

36 when one’s case is subverted

—does the Lord not see it?

33 He does not afflict willingly,

or grieve anyone.

34 To crush under his feet

all the prisoners of the earth;

35 to deprive one of justice

before the face of the Most High;

36 to subvert a person in a legal dispute

—the Lord has not found delight in these things.

33 He doesn’t want to bring pain

or suffering to people.

34 Every time people crush prisoners under their feet,

the Lord knows all about it.

35 When people refuse to give a man his rights,

the Most High God knows it.

36 When people don’t treat a man fairly,

the Lord knows it.

33 For He does not afflict willingly

Or grieve the sons of men.

34 To crush under His feet

All the prisoners of the land,

35 To deprive a man of justice

In the presence of the Most High,

36 To defraud a man in his lawsuit—

Of these things the Lord does not approve.
