Lamentations 3:18–22 — New International Version (2011) (NIV)
18 So I say, “My splendor is gone
and all that I had hoped from the Lord.”
19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
20 I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — New Living Translation (NLT)
18 I cry out, “My splendor is gone!
Everything I had hoped for from the Lord is lost!”
19 The thought of my suffering and homelessness
is bitter beyond words.
20 I will never forget this awful time,
as I grieve over my loss.
21 Yet I still dare to hope
when I remember this:
22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
18 And I said, “My strength and my hope
Have perished from the Lord.”
19 Remember my affliction and roaming,
The wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul still remembers
And sinks within me.
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — New Century Version (NCV)
18 I said, “My strength is gone,
and I have no hope in the Lord.”
19 Lord, remember my suffering and my misery,
my sorrow and trouble.
20 Please remember me
and think about me.
21 But I have hope
when I think of this:
22 The Lord’s love never ends;
his mercies never stop.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — American Standard Version (ASV)
18 And I said, My strength is perished, and mine expectation from Jehovah.
19 Remember mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. 20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is bowed down within me. 21 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope. 22 It is of Jehovah’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
18 And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah. 19 Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall. 20 My soul hath them constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 —This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of Jehovah’s loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;
Lamentations 3:18–22 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
18 I said, ‘I’ve lost my strength ⸤to live⸥ and my hope in the Lord.’
19 Remember my suffering and my ⸤aimless⸥ wandering,
the wormwood and poison.
20 My soul continues to remember ⸤these things⸥ and is so discouraged.
21 “The reason I can ⸤still⸥ find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind:
22 the Lord’s mercy.
We were not completely wiped out.
His compassion is never limited.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
18 Then I thought: My future is lost,
as well as my hope from the Lord.
19 Remember my affliction and my homelessness,
the wormwood and the poison.
20 I continually remember them
and have become depressed.
21 Yet I call this to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord’s faithful love
we do not perish,
for His mercies never end.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — New Revised Standard Version: Updated Edition (NRSVue)
18 so I say, “Gone is my glory
and all that I had hoped for from the Lord.”
19 The thought of my affliction and my homelessness
is wormwood and gall!
20 My soul continually thinks of it
and is bowed down within me.
21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
Lamentations 3:18–22 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
18 And I have said, “My glory is ruined,
my expectation from Yahweh.”
19 Remember my misery and bitterness,
the wormwood and venom!
20 Surely my soul remembers
and bows down within me.
21 This I have reminded myself,
therefore I will hope.
22 The loyal love of Yahweh does not cease;
his compassions do not come to an end.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
18 So I say, “My glory has faded away.
My hope in the Lord is gone.”
19 I remember how I suffered and wandered.
I remember how bitter my life was.
20 I remember it very well.
My spirit is very sad deep down inside me.
21 But here is something else I remember.
And it gives me hope.
22 The Lord loves us very much.
So we haven’t been completely destroyed.
His loving concern never fails.
Lamentations 3:18–22 — New American Standard Bible (1995) (NASB95)
18 So I say, “My strength has perished,
And so has my hope from the Lord.”
19 Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
20 Surely my soul remembers
And is bowed down within me.
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
