Joshua 21:4–8

The lot came out for the clans of the Kohathites. So those Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest xreceived by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, thirteen cities.

And the rest of the Kohathites received by lot yfrom the clans of the tribe of Ephraim, from the tribe of Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

The zGershonites received by lot from the clans of the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

The aMerarites according to their clans received from the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

These cities and their pasturelands the people of Israel bgave by lot to the Levites, cas the Lord had commanded through Moses.

Joshua 21:4–8 — The New International Version (NIV)

The first lot came out for the Kohathites, according to their clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin. The rest of Kohath’s descendants were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribes of Ephraim, Dan and half of Manasseh.

The descendants of Gershon were allotted thirteen towns from the clans of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

The descendants of Merari, according to their clans, received twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.

So the Israelites allotted to the Levites these towns and their pasturelands, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.

The clan of Gershon was allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

The clan of Merari was allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

So the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s command to Moses and assigned these towns and pasturelands to the Levites by casting sacred lots.

To these Levites were given thirteen towns in the areas of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. The other family groups of Kohath were given ten towns in the areas of Ephraim, Dan, and West Manasseh.

The people from the Gershon family groups were given thirteen towns in the land of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the East Manasseh in Bashan.

The family groups of Merari were given twelve towns in the areas of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

So the Israelites gave the Levites these towns and the pastures around them, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The rest of Kohath’s family groups were given ten towns from the family groups of the tribes of Ephraim and Dan and half of the tribe of Manasseh.

The family groups of Gershon were given 13 towns from the family groups of the tribes of Issachar, Asher and Naphtali and half of the tribe of Manasseh. That part of Manasseh was in the land of Bashan.

The family groups of Merari received 12 towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun. Each family group received its share.

So the people of Israel gave those towns and their grasslands to the Levites. They did what the Lord had commanded through Moses.
