Job 4:3–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Think how you have instructed many,

how you have strengthened feeble hands.

Your words have supported those who stumbled;

you have strengthened faltering knees.

But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged;

it strikes you, and you are dismayed.

Job 4:3–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Behold, thou hast instructed many,

And thou hast strengthened the weak hands.

Thy words have upholden him that was falling,

And thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest;

It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

Job 4:3–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“In the past you have encouraged many people;

you have strengthened those who were weak.

Your words have supported those who were falling;

you encouraged those with shaky knees.

But now when trouble strikes, you lose heart.

You are terrified when it touches you.

Job 4:3–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Surely you have instructed many,

And you have strengthened weak hands.

Your words have upheld him who was stumbling,

And you have strengthened the feeble knees;

But now it comes upon you, and you are weary;

It touches you, and you are troubled.

Job 4:3–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

Think about the many people you have taught

trouble hits you, and you are terrified.

Job 4:3–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

Job 4:3–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands; Thy words have upholden him that was stumbling, and thou hast braced up the bending knees: But now it is come upon thee, and thou grievest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

Job 4:3–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Certainly, you have instructed many people:

When hands were weak, you made them strong.

When someone stumbled, you lifted him up with your words.

When knees were weak, you gave them strength.

But trouble comes to you, and you’re impatient.

It touches you, and you panic.

Job 4:3–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Indeed, you have instructed many

and have strengthened weak hands.

Your words have steadied the one who was stumbling

and braced the knees that were buckling.

But now that this has happened to you,

you have become exhausted.

It strikes you, and you are dismayed.

Job 4:3–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

See, you have instructed many;

you have strengthened the weak hands.

Your words have supported those who were stumbling,

and you have made firm the feeble knees.

But now it has come to you, and you are impatient;

it touches you, and you are dismayed.

Job 4:3–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Look, you have instructed many,

and you have strengthened weak hands.

Your words have raised up the one who stumbles,

and you have strengthened knees giving way.

But now it has come to you, and you are worn out;

it touches you, and you are horrified.

Job 4:3–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Look, you taught many people.

You made weak hands strong.

Your words helped those who had fallen down.

You made shaky knees strong.

Now trouble comes to you. And you are unhappy about it.

It strikes you down. And you are afraid.

And you have strengthened weak hands.
