Isaiah 3:22–24

22 the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses 23 and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.

24 Instead of fragrance there will be a stench;

instead of a sash, a rope;

instead of well-dressed hair, baldness;

instead of fine clothing, sackcloth;

instead of beauty, branding.

22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles,

And the wimples, and the crisping pins,

23 The glasses, and the fine linen,

And the hoods, and the vails.

24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink;

And instead of a girdle a rent;

And instead of well set hair baldness;

And instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth;

And burning instead of beauty.

22 party clothes, gowns, capes, and purses;

23 mirrors, fine linen garments,

head ornaments, and shawls.

24 Instead of smelling of sweet perfume, she will stink.

She will wear a rope for a sash,

and her elegant hair will fall out.

She will wear rough burlap instead of rich robes.

Shame will replace her beauty.

22 the festal apparel, and the mantles;

The outer garments, the purses,

23 and the mirrors;

The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.

24 And so it shall be:

Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;

Instead of a sash, a rope;

Instead of well-set hair, baldness;

Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth;

And branding instead of beauty.

22 their fine robes, capes, shawls, and purses, 23 their mirrors, linen dresses, turbans, and long shawls.

24 Instead of wearing sweet-smelling perfume, they will stink.

Instead of fine cloth belts, they will wear the ropes of captives.

Instead of having their hair fixed in fancy ways, they will be bald.

Instead of fine clothes, they will wear clothes of sadness.

Instead of being beautiful, they will wear the brand of a captive.

22 the festival robes, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the satchels; 23 the hand-mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the veils. 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty.

22 the festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets; 23 the mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils. 24 And it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty.

22 fine robes, coats, shawls, purses, 23 mirrors, underwear, headdresses, and veils. 

24 Instead of the smell of perfume, there will be the smell of decay. 

They will wear ropes instead of belts. 

They will have bald heads instead of beautiful hair. 

They will wear sackcloth instead of expensive clothes. 

Their beauty will be scarred.

22 festive robes, capes, cloaks, purses, 23 garments, linen clothes, turbans, and veils.

24 Instead of perfume there will be a stench;

instead of a belt, a rope;

instead of beautifully styled hair, baldness;

instead of fine clothes, sackcloth;

instead of beauty, branding.

22 the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23 the garments of gauze, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.

24 Instead of perfume there will be a stench;

and instead of a sash, a rope;

and instead of well-styled hair, baldness;

and instead of a rich robe, a binding of sackcloth;

instead of beauty, shame.

22 the festal robes and the mantles,

and the cloaks and the handbags,

23 and the mirrors and the linen garments,

and the turbans and the wraps.

24 And this shall happen: There will be

a stench instead of perfume,

and a rope instead of a sash,

and baldness instead of a well-set hairdo,

and a clothing wrap of sackcloth instead of a rich robe,

branding instead of beauty.

22 He’ll take away their fine robes and their capes and coats. He’ll take away their purses 23 and mirrors. And he’ll take away their linen clothes, turbans and shawls.

24 Instead of smelling sweet,

the women will smell bad.

Instead of wearing belts,

they will wear ropes.

Instead of having beautiful hair,

they won’t have any hair at all.

Instead of wearing fine clothes,

they’ll wear black clothes to show how sad they are.

Instead of being beautiful,

they’ll have the brands of slaves on their bodies.

22 festal robes, outer tunics, cloaks, money purses,

23 hand mirrors, undergarments, turbans and veils.

24 Now it will come about that instead of sweet perfume there will be putrefaction;

Instead of a belt, a rope;

Instead of well-set hair, a plucked-out scalp;

Instead of fine clothes, a donning of sackcloth;

And branding instead of beauty.
