Isaiah 26:3–9

3 You will keep in perfect peace

those whose minds are steadfast,

because they trust in you.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

5 He humbles those who dwell on high,

he lays the lofty city low;

he levels it to the ground

and casts it down to the dust.

6 Feet trample it down—

the feet of the oppressed,

the footsteps of the poor.

7 The path of the righteous is level;

you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.

8 Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,

we wait for you;

your name and renown

are the desire of our hearts.

9 My soul yearns for you in the night;

in the morning my spirit longs for you.

When your judgments come upon the earth,

the people of the world learn righteousness.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on thee:

Because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever:

For in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high;

The lofty city, he layeth it low;

He layeth it low, even to the ground;

He bringeth it even to the dust.

6 The foot shall tread it down,

Even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

7 The way of the just is uprightness:

Thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.

8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee;

The desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night;

Yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early:

For when thy judgments are in the earth,

The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

3 You will keep in perfect peace

all who trust in you,

all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

4 Trust in the Lord always,

for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

5 He humbles the proud

and brings down the arrogant city.

He brings it down to the dust.

6 The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot,

and the needy walk all over it.

7 But for those who are righteous,

the way is not steep and rough.

You are a God who does what is right,

and you smooth out the path ahead of them.

8 Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;

our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.

9 In the night I search for you;

in the morning I earnestly seek you.

For only when you come to judge the earth

will people learn what is right.

3 You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

5 For He brings down those who dwell on high,

The lofty city;

He lays it low,

He lays it low to the ground,

He brings it down to the dust.

6 The foot shall tread it down—

The feet of the poor

And the steps of the needy.”

7 The way of the just is uprightness;

O Most Upright,

You weigh the path of the just.

8 Yes, in the way of Your judgments,

O Lord, we have waited for You;

The desire of our soul is for Your name

And for the remembrance of You.

9 With my soul I have desired You in the night,

Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;

For when Your judgments are in the earth,

The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

3 You, Lord, give true peace

to those who depend on you,

because they trust you.

4 So, trust the Lord always,

because he is our Rock forever.

5 He will destroy the proud city,

and he will punish the people living there.

He will bring that high city down to the ground

and throw it down into the dust.

6 Then those who were hurt by the city will walk on its ruins;

those who were made poor by the city will trample it under their feet.

7 The path of life is level for those who are right with God;

Lord, you make the way of life smooth for those people.

8 But, Lord, we are waiting

for your way of justice.

Our souls want to remember

you and your name.

9 My soul wants to be with you at night,

and my spirit wants to be with you at the dawn of every day.

When your way of justice comes to the land,

people of the world will learn the right way of living.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock. 5 For he hath brought down them that dwell on high, the lofty city: he layeth it low, he layeth it low even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. 6 The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. 7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou that art upright dost direct the path of the just.

8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; to thy name, even to thy memorial name, is the desire of our soul. 9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee earnestly: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

3 Thou wilt keep in perfect peace the mind stayed on thee, for he confideth in thee. 4 Confide ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jah, Jehovah, is the rock of ages.

5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low, he layeth it low to the ground, he bringeth it even to the dust. 6 The foot shall tread it down, —the feet of the afflicted, the steps of the poor. 7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, the Upright, dost make the path of the just even. 8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to thy memorial. 9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

3 With perfect peace you will protect those whose minds cannot be changed, 

because they trust you. 

4 Trust the Lord always, 

because the Lord, the Lord alone, is an everlasting rock. 

5 He has brought down those who live high in the towering city. 

He levels it. 

He levels it to the ground and throws it into the dust. 

6 Feet trample it, 

the feet of the oppressed, 

the footsteps of the poor. 

7 The path of the righteous is level. 

O Upright One, you make the road of the righteous smooth. 

8 Certainly, we wait with hope for you, O Lord, 

⸤as we follow⸥ the path of your guiding principles. 

We want to remember you and your name. 

9 With my soul I long for you at night. 

Yes, with my spirit I eagerly look for you. 

When your guiding principles are on earth, 

those who live in the world learn to do what is right. 

3 You will keep the mind that is dependent on You

in perfect peace,

for it is trusting in You.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

because in Yah, the Lord, is an everlasting rock!

5 For He has humbled those who live in lofty places—

an inaccessible city.

He brings it down; He brings it down to the ground;

He throws it to the dust.

6 Feet trample it,

the feet of the humble,

the steps of the poor.

7 The path of the righteous is level;

You clear a straight path for the righteous.

8 Yes, Yahweh, we wait for You

in the path of Your judgments.

Our desire is for Your name and renown.

9 I long for You in the night;

yes, my spirit within me diligently seeks You,

for when Your judgments are in the land,

the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

3 Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace,

in peace because they trust in you.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

for in the Lord God

you have an everlasting rock.

5 For he has brought low

the inhabitants of the height;

the lofty city he lays low.

He lays it low to the ground,

casts it to the dust.

6 The foot tramples it,

the feet of the poor,

the steps of the needy.

7 The way of the righteous is level;

straight is the path of the righteous that you clear.

8 In the path of your judgments,

O Lord, we have placed hope;

your name and your renown

are the soul’s desire.

9 My soul yearns for you in the night;

my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.

For when your judgments are in the earth,

the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

3 You will protect a firm inclination in peace,

in peace because he trusts in you.

4 Trust in Yahweh forever,

for in Yah, Yahweh you have an everlasting rock.

5 For he has thrown down the inhabitants of the height,

he lays low the lofty city.

He lays it low to the ground;

he throws her to the dust.

6 The foot tramples it,

the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.”

7 The way of the righteous is a straight path;

you clear the level path of the righteous.

8 Surely we wait for you in the path of your judgments, Yahweh,

for your name and renown are the desire of the soul.

9 I desire you with all my soul in the night;

also I seek you with my spirit within me,

for when your judgments are upon the earth,

the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

3 Lord, you will give perfect peace

to anyone who commits himself to be faithful to you.

That’s because he trusts in you.

4 “Trust in the Lord forever.

The Lord is the Rock.

The Lord will keep us safe forever.

5 He brings down those who are proud.

He pulls down cities that have high walls.

They fall down flat on the ground.

He throws them down to the dust.

6 The feet of those who were crushed stomp on them.

Those who were helpless walk all over them.”

7 Lord, you are honest and fair.

You guide those who do what is right.

You lead them on a straight path.

You make their way smooth.

8 Lord, we are living the way your laws command us to live.

We are waiting for you to act.

Our hearts long for you to be true to your name.

That’s what you are known for.

9 My heart longs for you at night.

My spirit longs for you in the morning.

You will come and judge the earth.

Then the people of the world will learn to do what is right.

3 “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,

Because he trusts in You.

4 “Trust in the Lord forever,

For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.

5 “For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city;

He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.

6 “The foot will trample it,

The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless.”

7 The way of the righteous is smooth;

O Upright One, make the path of the righteous level.

8 Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O Lord,

We have waited for You eagerly;

Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls.

9 At night my soul longs for You,

Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;

For when the earth experiences Your judgments

The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
