Isaiah 22:13–14

13 But see, there is joy and revelry,

slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep,

eating of meat and drinking of wine!

“Let us eat and drink,” you say,

“for tomorrow we die!”

14 The Lord Almighty has revealed this in my hearing: “Till your dying day this sin will not be atoned for,” says the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

13 And behold joy and gladness,

Slaying oxen, and killing sheep,

Eating flesh, and drinking wine:

Let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.

14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts,

Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die,

Saith the Lord God of hosts.

13 But instead, you dance and play;

you slaughter cattle and kill sheep.

You feast on meat and drink wine.

You say, “Let’s feast and drink,

for tomorrow we die!”

14 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has revealed this to me: “Till the day you die, you will never be forgiven for this sin.” That is the judgment of the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

13 But instead, joy and gladness,

Slaying oxen and killing sheep,

Eating meat and drinking wine:

“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

14 Then it was revealed in my hearing by the Lord of hosts,

“Surely for this iniquity there will be no atonement for you,

Even to your death,” says the Lord God of hosts.

13 But look, the people are happy

and are having wild parties.

They kill the cattle and the sheep;

they eat the food and drink the wine.

They say, “Let us eat and drink,

because tomorrow we will die.”

14 The Lord All-Powerful said to me: “You people will die before this guilt is forgiven.” The Lord God All-Powerful said this.

13 and behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we shall die. 14 And Jehovah of hosts revealed himself in mine ears, Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you till ye die, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

13 and behold joy and rejoicing, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: —Let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die. 14 And it was revealed in mine ears by Jehovah of hosts: Assuredly this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

13 Instead, you will rejoice, celebrate, 

slaughter cattle, and butcher sheep. 

You will eat meat, drink wine, and say, 

“Let’s eat and drink because tomorrow we’re going to die.” 

14 The Lord of Armies revealed this to me: “Certainly, this wrong will not be forgiven even when you die,” says the Almighty Lord of Armies. 

13 But look: joy and gladness,

butchering of cattle, slaughtering of sheep,

eating of meat, and drinking of wine—

“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

14 The Lord of Hosts has directly revealed to me:

“This sin of yours will never be wiped out.”

The Lord God of Hosts has spoken.

13 but instead there was joy and festivity,

killing oxen and slaughtering sheep,

eating meat and drinking wine.

“Let us eat and drink,

for tomorrow we die.”

14 The Lord of hosts has revealed himself in my ears:

“Surely this iniquity will not be forgiven you until you die,”

says the Lord God of hosts.

13 But look! Joy and gladness,

the killing of oxen and the slaughtering of sheep,

the eating of meat and the drinking of wine!

“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

14 And it was revealed in my ears by Yahweh of hosts:

“Surely this sin will not be atoned for you until you die!”

says the Lord, Yahweh of hosts.

13 Instead, you are enjoying yourselves at wild parties!

You are killing cattle and sheep.

You are eating their meat and drinking wine.

You are saying, “Let’s eat and drink,

because tomorrow we’ll die.”

14 I heard the Lord who rules over all speaking. “Your sin can never be paid for as long as you people live,” says the Lord.

13 Instead, there is gaiety and gladness,

Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep,

Eating of meat and drinking of wine:

“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.”

14 But the Lord of hosts revealed Himself to me,

“Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you

Until you die,” says the Lord God of hosts.
