Ezekiel 7:20–24

20 They took pride in their beautiful jewelry

and used it to make their detestable idols.

They made it into vile images;

therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.

21 I will give their wealth as plunder to foreigners

and as loot to the wicked of the earth,

who will defile it.

22 I will turn my face away from the people,

and robbers will desecrate the place I treasure.

They will enter it

and will defile it.

23 “ ‘Prepare chains!

For the land is full of bloodshed,

and the city is full of violence.

24 I will bring the most wicked of nations

to take possession of their houses.

I will put an end to the pride of the mighty,

and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.

20 As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them. 21 And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it. 22 My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it. 23 Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

20 They were proud of their beautiful jewelry

and used it to make detestable idols and vile images.

Therefore, I will make all their wealth

disgusting to them.

21 I will give it as plunder to foreigners,

to the most wicked of nations,

and they will defile it.

22 I will turn my eyes from them

as these robbers invade and defile my treasured land.

23 “Prepare chains for my people,

for the land is bloodied by terrible crimes.

Jerusalem is filled with violence.

24 I will bring the most ruthless of nations

to occupy their homes.

I will break down their proud fortresses

and defile their sanctuaries.

20 ‘As for the beauty of his ornaments,

He set it in majesty;

But they made from it

The images of their abominations—

Their detestable things;

Therefore I have made it

Like refuse to them.

21 I will give it as plunder

Into the hands of strangers,

And to the wicked of the earth as spoil;

And they shall defile it.

22 I will turn My face from them,

And they will defile My secret place;

For robbers shall enter it and defile it.

23 ‘Make a chain,

For the land is filled with crimes of blood,

And the city is full of violence.

24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,

And they will possess their houses;

I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,

And their holy places shall be defiled.

20 They were proud of their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their idols and their evil statues, which I hate. So I will turn their wealth into trash. 21 I will give it to foreigners as loot from war and to the most evil people in the world as treasure, and they will dishonor it. 22 I will also turn away from the people of Israel, and they will dishonor my treasured place. Then robbers will enter and dishonor it.

23 “Make chains for captives, because the land is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence. 24 So I will bring the worst of the nations to take over the people’s houses. I will also end the pride of the strong, and their holy places will be dishonored.

23 Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pride of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be profaned.

20 And he set in majesty his beautiful ornament; but they made therein the images of their abominations and of their detestable things: therefore have I made it an impurity unto them. 21 And I will give it into the hands of strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it. 22 And I will turn my face from them; and they shall profane my secret place; and the violent shall enter into it, and profane it.

23 Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 24 Therefore will I bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; and I will make the pride of the strong to cease; and their sanctuaries shall be profaned.

20 They were proud of their beautiful jewels and used them to make disgusting and detestable statues ⸤of false gods⸥. That is why I will make their jewels disgusting. 21 I will hand their jewels over to foreigners as loot and to the most evil people on earth as prizes. These foreigners will dishonor the people of Israel. 22 I will turn my face away from the people of Israel, and foreigners will dishonor my treasured place. Robbers will go in and dishonor it. 

23 “Get the chains ready! The land is filled with murder, and the city is filled with violence. 24 So I will send the most evil nation, and it will take possession of people’s houses. I will stop those who are strong from feeling proud, and their holy places will be dishonored.

20 He appointed His beautiful ornaments for majesty,

but they made their abhorrent images from them,

their detestable things.

Therefore, I have made these

into something filthy for them.

21 I will hand these things over

to foreigners as plunder

and to the wicked of the earth as spoil,

and they will profane them.

22 I will turn My face from the wicked

as they profane My treasured place.

Violent men will enter it and profane it.

23 Forge the chain,

for the land is filled with crimes of bloodshed,

and the city is filled with violence.

24 So I will bring the most evil of nations

to take possession of their houses.

I will put an end to the pride of the strong,

and their sacred places will be profaned.

20 From their beautiful ornament, in which they took pride, they made their abominable images, their detestable things; therefore I will make of it an unclean thing to them.

21 I will hand it over to strangers as plunder,

to the wicked of the earth as spoil;

they shall profane it.

22 I will avert my face from them

so that they may profane my treasured place;

the violent shall enter it;

they shall profane it.

23 Make a chain!

For the land is full of bloody crimes;

the city is full of violence.

24 I will bring the worst of the nations

to take possession of their houses.

I will put an end to the arrogance of the strong,

and their holy places shall be profaned.

20 “ ‘And the beauty of its ornament he made into a prideful thing and made with it their detestable things and their vile idols; therefore I will make it into an impure thing for them. 21 And I will give it into the hand of strangers as plunder and to the wicked people of the earth as spoil, and they will defile it. 22 And I will turn my face from them, and they will defile my treasured place, and violent ones will enter and defile it. 23 Make a chain for the land; it is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence. 24 And I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses, and I will put to an end the pride of the mighty ones, and their sanctuaries will be defiled.

20 My people were so proud of their beautiful jewelry. They used it to make statues of their evil gods. I hate those gods. So I will turn their statues into an “unclean” thing for them.

21 “ ‘I will hand everything over to strangers. I will turn it over to sinful people in other countries. They will pollute it. 22 I will turn my face away from my people. Their enemies will pollute my beautiful temple. Robbers will enter it and pollute it.

23 “ ‘Ezekiel, get ready to put my people in chains. The land is full of murderers. They are harming one another all over Jerusalem. 24 I will bring the most evil nations against them. They will take over the houses in the city. I will put an end to the pride of those who are mighty. Their holy places will be polluted.

20 ‘They transformed the beauty of His ornaments into pride, and they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things with it; therefore I will make it an abhorrent thing to them.

21 ‘I will give it into the hands of the foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane it.

22 ‘I will also turn My face from them, and they will profane My secret place; then robbers will enter and profane it.

23 ‘Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence.

24 ‘Therefore, I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the pride of the strong ones cease, and their holy places will be profaned.
