Ezekiel 23:30–33

30 have brought this on you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols. 31 You have gone the way of your sister; so I will put her cup into your hand.

32 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“You will drink your sister’s cup,

a cup large and deep;

it will bring scorn and derision,

for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow,

the cup of ruin and desolation,

the cup of your sister Samaria.

30 I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord God; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

30 You brought all this on yourself by prostituting yourself to other nations, defiling yourself with all their idols. 31 Because you have followed in your sister’s footsteps, I will force you to drink the same cup of terror she drank.

32 “Yes, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“You will drink from your sister’s cup of terror,

a cup that is large and deep.

It is filled to the brim

with scorn and derision.

33 Drunkenness and anguish will fill you,

for your cup is filled to the brim with distress and desolation,

the same cup your sister Samaria drank.

30 I will do these things to you because you have gone as a harlot after the Gentiles, because you have become defiled by their idols. 31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore I will put her cup in your hand.’

32 “Thus says the Lord God:

‘You shall drink of your sister’s cup,

The deep and wide one;

You shall be laughed to scorn

And held in derision;

It contains much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow,

The cup of horror and desolation,

The cup of your sister Samaria.

30 have brought this on you. You have had sexual relations with the nations and made yourselves unclean by worshiping their idols. 31 You did the same things your sister did, so you will get the same punishment, like a bitter cup to drink.

32 “This is what the Lord God says:

You will drink the same cup your sister did,

and that cup is deep and wide.

Everyone will make fun of you,

because the cup is full.

33 It will make you miserable and drunk.

It is the cup of fear and ruin.

It is the cup of your sister Samaria.

30 These things shall be done unto thee, for that thou hast played the harlot after the nations, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thy hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup, which is deep and large; thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

30 These things shall be done unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the nations, because thou hast defiled thyself with their idols. 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; and I have given her cup into thy hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large; thou shalt be for a laughing-stock and a derision, for it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, the cup of thy sister Samaria;

30 Your sinning and your prostitution have done this to you, because you lusted after the nations and dishonored yourself with their idols. 31 You’ve acted the same way as your sister. That is why I will put her cup in your hand. 32 This is what the Almighty Lord says: 

You will drink from your sister’s cup, 

a cup that is deep and wide. 

You will be scorned and mocked, 

because this cup holds so much. 

33 The cup of your sister Samaria will be filled 

with drunkenness and sorrow. 

30 These things will be done to you because you acted like a prostitute with the nations, defiling yourself with their idols. 31 You have followed the path of your sister, so I will put her cup in your hand.”

32 This is what the Lord God says:

You will drink your sister’s cup,

which is deep and wide.

You will be an object of ridicule and scorn,

for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and grief,

with a cup of devastation and desolation,

the cup of your sister Samaria.

30 have brought this upon you, because you prostituted yourself with the nations and polluted yourself with their idols. 31 You have gone the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord God:

You shall drink your sister’s cup,

deep and wide;

it will bring scorn and derision;

it holds so much.

33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow.

A cup of horror and desolation

is the cup of your sister Samaria;

30 These things are accomplished against you since you prostituted yourself after the nations, and on account of that, you defiled yourself by their idols. 31 You went in the same way of your sister, and I will give her cup into your hand.” ’

32 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “You will drink the deep and wide cup of your sister; you will be as laughter and as scorn; the cup holds so much! 33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, for a cup of horror and desolation is the cup of your sister, Samaria.

30 “That is why you will be punished. You longed for lovers in other nations. You polluted yourself by worshiping their gods. 31 You did the same things your sister Oholah did. So I will put her cup in your hand. It is filled with the wine of my anger.”

32 The Lord and King says to Oholibah,

“You will drink from your sister’s cup.

It is large and deep.

It is filled with the wine of my anger.

So others will laugh at you.

They will make fun of you.

33 You will become drunk and sad.

The cup of my anger will completely destroy you.

It is the same cup your sister Samaria drank from.

30 ‘These things will be done to you because you have played the harlot with the nations, because you have defiled yourself with their idols.

31 ‘You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand.’

32 “Thus says the Lord God,

‘You will drink your sister’s cup,

Which is deep and wide.

You will be laughed at and held in derision;

It contains much.

33 ‘You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow,

The cup of horror and desolation,

The cup of your sister Samaria.
