Amos 1:13–14

13 This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Ammon,

even for four, I will not relent.

Because he ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead

in order to extend his borders,

14 I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah

that will consume her fortresses

amid war cries on the day of battle,

amid violent winds on a stormy day.

13 Thus saith the Lord;

For three transgressions of the children of Ammon,

And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof;

Because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead,

That they might enlarge their border:

14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah,

And it shall devour the palaces thereof,

With shouting in the day of battle,

With a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

13 This is what the Lord says:

“The people of Ammon have sinned again and again,

and I will not let them go unpunished!

When they attacked Gilead to extend their borders,

they ripped open pregnant women with their swords.

14 So I will send down fire on the walls of Rabbah,

and all its fortresses will be destroyed.

The battle will come upon them with shouts,

like a whirlwind in a mighty storm.

13 Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of the people of Ammon, and for four,

I will not turn away its punishment,

Because they ripped open the women with child in Gilead,

That they might enlarge their territory.

14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah,

And it shall devour its palaces,

Amid shouting in the day of battle,

And a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.

13 This is what the Lord says:

“For the many crimes of Ammon,

I will punish them.

They ripped open the pregnant women in Gilead

so they could take over that land

and make their own country larger.

14 So I will send fire on the city wall of Rabbah

that will destroy its strong buildings.

It will come during a day of battle,

during a stormy day with strong winds.

13 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they may enlarge their border. 14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

13 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border. 14 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.

13 This is what the Lord says: 

Because Ammon has committed three crimes, and now a fourth crime, 

I will not change my plans. 

The Ammonites enlarged their territory 

by ripping open pregnant women in Gilead. 

14 I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah 

and burn down its palaces 

while troops are shouting on the day of battle 

and winds are howling on the day of the storm. 

13 The Lord says:

I will not relent from punishing the Ammonites

for three crimes, even four,

because they ripped open

the pregnant women of Gilead

in order to enlarge their territory.

14 Therefore, I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah,

and it will consume its citadels.

There will be shouting on the day of battle

and a violent wind on the day of the storm.

13 Thus says the Lord:

For three transgressions of the Ammonites,

and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,

because they have ripped open pregnant women in Gilead

in order to enlarge their territory.

14 So I will kindle a fire against the wall of Rabbah,

and it shall devour its strongholds,

with shouting on the day of battle,

with a storm on the day of the whirlwind;

13 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Ammon and for four I will not revoke the punishment, because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory! 14 So I will kindle a fire against the wall of Rabbah and it will devour its citadel fortresses with a war cry on the day of battle, with a storm on the day of the violent tempest.

13 The Lord says,

“The people of Ammon have sinned again and again.

So I will punish them.

They ripped open the pregnant women in Gilead.

They wanted to add land to their territory.

14 So I will set fire to destroy the walls of Rabbah.

It will burn up its forts.

War cries will be heard on that day of battle.

Strong winds will blow on that stormy day.

13 Thus says the Lord,

“For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon and for four

I will not revoke its punishment,

Because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead

In order to enlarge their borders.

14 “So I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah

And it will consume her citadels

Amid war cries on the day of battle,

And a storm on the day of tempest.
