Psalm 75:4–10

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’

and to the wicked, s‘Do not lift up your horn;

do not lift up your horn on high,

or speak with haughty neck.’ ”

For not from the east or from the west

and not from the wilderness comes tlifting up,

but it is uGod who executes judgment,

vputting down one and lifting up another.

wFor in the hand of the Lord there is xa cup

with foaming wine, ywell mixed,

and he pours out from it,

and all the wicked of the earth

shall zdrain it down to the dregs.

But I will declare it forever;

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10  aAll the horns of the wicked I will cut off,

Psalm 75:4–10 — The New International Version (NIV)

To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’

and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.

Do not lift your horns against heaven;

do not speak so defiantly.’ ”

No one from the east or the west

or from the desert can exalt themselves.

It is God who judges:

He brings one down, he exalts another.

In the hand of the Lord is a cup

full of foaming wine mixed with spices;

he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth

drink it down to its very dregs.

As for me, I will declare this forever;

I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,

10 who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,

but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

Psalm 75:4–10 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly:

And to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Lift not up your horn on high:

Speak not with a stiff neck.

For promotion cometh neither from the east,

Nor from the west, nor from the south.

But God is the judge:

He putteth down one, and setteth up another.

For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red;

It is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same:

But the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

But I will declare for ever;

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off;

But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Psalm 75:4–10 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’

I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists!

Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens

or speak with such arrogance.’ ”

For no one on earth—from east or west,

or even from the wilderness—

should raise a defiant fist.

It is God alone who judges;

he decides who will rise and who will fall.

For the Lord holds a cup in his hand

that is full of foaming wine mixed with spices.

He pours out the wine in judgment,

and all the wicked must drink it,

draining it to the dregs.

But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done;

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked,

but I will increase the power of the godly.”

Psalm 75:4–10 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’

And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn.

Do not lift up your horn on high;

Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ”

For exaltation comes neither from the east

Nor from the west nor from the south.

But God is the Judge:

He puts down one,

And exalts another.

For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup,

And the wine is red;

It is fully mixed, and He pours it out;

Surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth

Drain and drink down.

But I will declare forever,

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 “All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off,

But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”

Psalm 75:4–10 — New Century Version (NCV)

I say to those who are proud, ‘Don’t brag,’

and to the wicked, ‘Don’t show your power.

Don’t try to use your power against heaven.

Don’t be stubborn.’ ”

No one from the east or the west

or the desert can judge you.

God is the judge;

he judges one person as guilty and another as innocent.

The Lord holds a cup of anger in his hand;

it is full of wine mixed with spices.

He pours it out even to the last drop,

and the wicked drink it all.

I will tell about this forever;

I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

10 He will take all power away from the wicked,

but the power of good people will grow.

Psalm 75:4–10 — American Standard Version (ASV)

I said unto the arrogant, Deal not arrogantly;

And to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Lift not up your horn on high;

Speak not with a stiff neck.

For neither from the east, nor from the west,

Nor yet from the south, cometh lifting up.

But God is the judge:

He putteth down one, and lifteth up another.

For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and the wine foameth;

It is full of mixture, and he poureth out of the same:

Surely the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall drain them, and drink them.

But I will declare for ever,

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off;

But the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

Psalm 75:4–10 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

I said unto the boastful, Boast not; and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high; speak not arrogantly with a stiff neck.

For not from the east nor from the west, nor yet from the south doth exaltation come: For God is the judge; he putteth down one and exalteth another. For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and it foameth with wine, it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof shall all the wicked of the earth drain off, and drink. But as for me, I will declare for ever; I will sing psalms to the God of Jacob. 10 And all the horns of the wicked will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Psalm 75:4–10 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I said to those who brag, “Don’t brag,”

and to wicked people,

“Don’t raise your weapons.

Don’t raise your weapons so proudly

or speak so defiantly.”

The ⸤authority⸥ to reward someone does not ⸤come⸥

from the east,

from the west,

or ⸤even⸥ from the wilderness.

God alone is the judge.

He punishes one person and rewards another.

A cup is in the Lord’s hand.

(Its foaming wine is thoroughly mixed with spices.)

He will empty it,

⸤and⸥ all the wicked people on earth

will have to drink every last drop.

But I will speak ⸤about your miracles⸥ forever.

I will make music to praise the God of Jacob.

10 I will destroy all the weapons of wicked people,

but the weapons of righteous people will be raised proudly.

Psalm 75:4–10 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’

and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn.

Do not lift up your horn against heaven

or speak arrogantly.’ ”

Exaltation does not come

from the east, the west, or the desert,

for God is the Judge:

He brings down one and exalts another.

For there is a cup in the Lord’s hand,

full of wine blended with spices, and He pours from it.

All the wicked of the earth will drink,

draining it to the dregs.

As for me, I will tell about Him forever;

I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

10 “I will cut off all the horns of the wicked,

but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

Psalm 75:4–10 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

I say to the boastful, “Do not boast,”

and to the wicked, “Do not lift up your horn;

do not lift up your horn on high,

or speak with insolent neck.”

For not from the east or from the west

and not from the wilderness comes lifting up;

but it is God who executes judgment,

putting down one and lifting up another.

For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup

with foaming wine, well mixed;

he will pour a draught from it,

and all the wicked of the earth

shall drain it down to the dregs.

But I will rejoice forever;

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,

but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Psalm 75:4–10 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast!’

and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn!

Do not lift up high your horn.

Do not speak with arrogant pride.’ ”

For it is not from the east or the west

and not from the south that lifting up comes,

rather God is the judge;

one he brings low, and another he lifts up.

For there is a cup in the hand of Yahweh

with wine that foams, fully mixed,

and he pours out from this.

Surely all the wicked of the land

will quaff it down to its dregs.

But as for me, I will proclaim forever;

I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

10 “And all the horns of the wicked I will cut off.

The horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

Psalm 75:4–10 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

To the proud I say, ‘Don’t brag anymore.’

To sinners I say, ‘Don’t show off your power.

Don’t show it off against me.

Don’t speak with your noses in the air.’ ”

No one from east or west or north or south

can act as judge.

God is the One who judges.

He says to one person, “You are guilty.”

To another he says, “You are not guilty.”

In the hand of the Lord is a cup.

It is full of wine mixed with spices.

It is the wine of his anger.

He pours it out. All of the evil people on earth

drink it down to the very last drop.

I will speak about this forever.

I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

10 God will destroy the power of all sinful people.

But he will make godly people more powerful.

Psalm 75:4–10 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’

And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn;

Do not lift up your horn on high,

Do not speak with insolent pride.’ ”

For not from the east, nor from the west,

Nor from the desert comes exaltation;

But God is the Judge;

He puts down one and exalts another.

For a cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams;

It is well mixed, and He pours out of this;

Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs.

But as for me, I will declare it forever;

I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off,

But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.
