Psalm 16:2–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

apart from you I have no good thing.”

I say of the holy people who are in the land,

“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods

or take up their names on my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord:

My goodness extendeth not to thee;

But to the saints that are in the earth,

And to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god:

Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer,

Nor take up their names into my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

I said to the Lord, “You are my Master!

Every good thing I have comes from you.”

The godly people in the land

are my true heroes!

I take pleasure in them!

Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods.

I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood

or even speak the names of their gods.

Psalm 16:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

O my soul, you have said to the Lord,

“You are my Lord,

My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;

Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,

Nor take up their names on my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord.

Every good thing I have comes from you.”

As for the godly people in the world,

they are the wonderful ones I enjoy.

But those who turn to idols

will have much pain.

I will not offer blood to those idols

or even speak their names.

Psalm 16:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord:

I have no good beyond thee.

As for the saints that are in the earth,

They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god:

Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer,

Nor take their names upon my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Thou my soul hast said to Jehovah, Thou art the Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; — To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent thou hast said, In them is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, and I will not take up their names into my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I said to the Lord

“You are my Lord. Without you, I have nothing good.”

Those who lead holy lives on earth

are the noble ones who fill me with joy.

Those who quickly chase after other gods multiply their sorrows.

I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood

or use my lips to speak their names.

Psalm 16:2–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord;

I have nothing good besides You.”

As for the holy people who are in the land,

All my delight is in them.

The sorrows of those who take another god

for themselves will multiply;

I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood,

and I will not speak their names with my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

or take their names upon my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood,

nor take up their names on my lips.

Psalm 16:2–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord.

Without you, I don’t have anything that is good.”

God’s people who live in our land are glorious.

I take great delight in them.

Those who run after other gods

will have nothing but trouble.

I will not pour out offerings of blood to those gods.

My lips will not speak their names.

Psalm 16:2–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood,

Nor will I take their names upon my lips.
