Psalm 16:3–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

I say of the holy people who are in the land,

“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods

or take up their names on my lips.

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;

you make my lot secure.

Psalm 16:3–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

But to the saints that are in the earth,

And to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god:

Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer,

Nor take up their names into my lips.

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:

Thou maintainest my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

The godly people in the land

are my true heroes!

I take pleasure in them!

Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods.

I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood

or even speak the names of their gods.

Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.

You guard all that is mine.

Psalm 16:3–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

As for the saints who are on the earth,

“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”

Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;

Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,

Nor take up their names on my lips.

O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;

You maintain my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

As for the godly people in the world,

they are the wonderful ones I enjoy.

But those who turn to idols

will have much pain.

I will not offer blood to those idols

or even speak their names.

No, the Lord is all I need.

He takes care of me.

Psalm 16:3–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

As for the saints that are in the earth,

They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god:

Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer,

Nor take their names upon my lips.

Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:

Thou maintainest my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent thou hast said, In them is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, and I will not take up their names into my lips. Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Those who lead holy lives on earth

are the noble ones who fill me with joy.

Those who quickly chase after other gods multiply their sorrows.

I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood

or use my lips to speak their names.

The Lord is my inheritance and my cup.

You are the one who determines my destiny.

Psalm 16:3–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

As for the holy people who are in the land,

they are the noble ones.

All my delight is in them.

The sorrows of those who take another god

for themselves will multiply;

I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood,

and I will not speak their names with my lips.

Lord, You are my portion

and my cup of blessing;

You hold my future.

Psalm 16:3–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble,

or take their names upon my lips.

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;

you hold my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

With regard to the saints who are in the land,

they are the noble ones in whom is all my desire.

Yahweh is the portion which is my share and my cup.

You hold my lot.

Psalm 16:3–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

God’s people who live in our land are glorious.

I take great delight in them.

Those who run after other gods

will have nothing but trouble.

I will not pour out offerings of blood to those gods.

My lips will not speak their names.

Lord, everything you have given me is good.

You have made my life secure.

Psalm 16:3–5 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

As for the saints who are in the earth,

They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.

The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied;

I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood,

Nor will I take their names upon my lips.

The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup;

You support my lot.
