Psalm 104:6–9 — The New International Version (NIV)

You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;

the waters stood above the mountains.

But at your rebuke the waters fled,

at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;

they flowed over the mountains,

they went down into the valleys,

to the place you assigned for them.

You set a boundary they cannot cross;

never again will they cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment:

The waters stood above the mountains.

At thy rebuke they fled;

At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys

Unto the place which thou hast founded for them.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over;

That they turn not again to cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

You clothed the earth with floods of water,

water that covered even the mountains.

At your command, the water fled;

at the sound of your thunder, it hurried away.

Mountains rose and valleys sank

to the levels you decreed.

Then you set a firm boundary for the seas,

so they would never again cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

You covered it with the deep as with a garment;

The waters stood above the mountains.

At Your rebuke they fled;

At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.

They went down into the valleys,

To the place which You founded for them.

You have set a boundary that they may not pass over,

That they may not return to cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

You covered the earth with oceans;

the water was above the mountains.

But at your command, the water rushed away.

When you thundered your orders, it hurried away.

The mountains rose; the valleys sank.

The water went to the places you made for it.

You set borders for the seas that they cannot cross,

so water will never cover the earth again.

Psalm 104:6–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture;

The waters stood above the mountains.

At thy rebuke they fled;

At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away

(The mountains rose, the valleys sank down)

Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over;

That they turn not again to cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains: At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; — The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them; — Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

You covered the earth with an ocean as though it were a robe.

Water stood above the mountains

and fled because of your threat.

Water ran away at the sound of your thunder.

The mountains rose and the valleys sank

to the place you appointed for them.

Water cannot cross the boundary you set

and cannot come back to cover the earth.

Psalm 104:6–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

as if it were a garment;

the waters stood above the mountains.

You set a boundary they cannot cross;

they will never cover the earth again.

You set a boundary that they may not cross over,

so that they would not return to cover the earth.

The waters covered the mountains.

You drew a line they can’t cross.

They will never cover the earth again.
