Proverbs 30:8–9 — The New International Version (NIV)

Keep falsehood and lies far from me;

give me neither poverty nor riches,

but give me only my daily bread.

and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’

Or I may become poor and steal,

and so dishonor the name of my God.

Remove far from me vanity and lies:

Give me neither poverty nor riches;

Feed me with food convenient for me:

Lest I be full, and deny thee,

And say, Who is the Lord?

Or lest I be poor, and steal,

And take the name of my God in vain.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

First, help me never to tell a lie.

Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!

Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?”

And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Or lest I be poor and steal,

And profane the name of my God.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

Keep me from lying and being dishonest.

And don’t make me either rich or poor;

and say, ‘I don’t know the Lord.’

If I am poor, I might steal

and disgrace the name of my God.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Remove far from me falsehood and lies;

Give me neither poverty nor riches;

Feed me with the food that is needful for me:

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah?

Or lest I be poor, and steal,

And use profanely the name of my God.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Proverbs 30:8–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Keep vanity and lies far away from me.

Don’t give me either poverty or riches.

Feed me ⸤only⸥ the food I need,

or I may become poor and steal

and give the name of my God a bad reputation.

Proverbs 30:8–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me.
