Nehemiah 9:9–11 — The New International Version (NIV)

“You saw the suffering of our ancestors in Egypt; you heard their cry at the Red Sea. 10 You sent signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his officials and all the people of his land, for you knew how arrogantly the Egyptians treated them. You made a name for yourself, which remains to this day. 11 You divided the sea before them, so that they passed through it on dry ground, but you hurled their pursuers into the depths, like a stone into mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea; 10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day. 11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“You saw the misery of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cries from beside the Red Sea. 10 You displayed miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his people, for you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten. 11 You divided the sea for your people so they could walk through on dry land! And then you hurled their enemies into the depths of the sea. They sank like stones beneath the mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,

And heard their cry by the Red Sea.

10 You showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,

Against all his servants,

And against all the people of his land.

For You knew that they acted proudly against them.

So You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day.

11 And You divided the sea before them,

So that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land;

And their persecutors You threw into the deep,

As a stone into the mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — New Century Version (NCV)

“You saw our ancestors suffering in Egypt

and heard them cry out at the Red Sea.

10 You did signs and miracles against the king of Egypt,

and against all his officers and all his people,

because you knew how proud they were.

You became as famous as you are today.

11 You divided the sea in front of our ancestors;

they walked through on dry ground.

But you threw the people chasing them into the deep water,

like a stone thrown into mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — American Standard Version (ASV)

And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red Sea, 10 and showedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them, and didst get thee a name, as it is this day. 11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their pursuers thou didst cast into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.

And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red Sea; 10 and didst shew signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants, and upon all the people of his land; for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them, and thou didst make thee a name, as it is this day. 11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, and they went through the midst of the sea on dry ground; and their pursuers thou threwest into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

You saw how our ancestors suffered in Egypt,

and you heard them crying at the Red Sea.

10 You performed miraculous signs and did amazing things to Pharaoh

and all his servants and all the people in his land

because you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors.

You made a name for yourself, a name which remains to this day.

11 You divided the sea in front of them

so that they could walk through the sea on dry ground.

You threw into deep water those who pursued your people

as someone throws a stone into raging water.

You saw the oppression of our ancestors in Egypt

and heard their cry at the Red Sea.

10 You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,

all his officials, and all the people of his land,

for You knew how arrogantly they treated our ancestors.

You made a name for Yourself

that endures to this day.

11 You divided the sea before them,

and they crossed through it on dry ground.

You hurled their pursuers into the depths

like a stone into churning waters.

Nehemiah 9:9–11 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

In fact, you sent them on all of the people of Egypt. You knew how they treated our people. They looked down on them. But you made a name for yourself. That name remains to this very day.

11 “You parted the Red Sea for the people of Israel. They passed through it on dry ground. But you threw into the sea those who chased them. They sank down like a stone into the mighty waters.

So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground;

And their pursuers You hurled into the depths,

Like a stone into raging waters.
