Lamentations 3:36–37

36 to deprive them of justice—

would not the Lord see such things?

37 Who can speak and have it happen

if the Lord has not decreed it?

36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

36 if they twist justice in the courts—

doesn’t the Lord see all these things?

37 Who can command things to happen

without the Lord’s permission?

36 Or subvert a man in his cause—

The Lord does not approve.

37 Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass,

When the Lord has not commanded it?

36 the Lord sees

if someone is cheated in his case in court.

37 Nobody can speak and have it happen

unless the Lord commands it.

36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. 37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

36 to wrong a man in his cause, —will not the Lord see it?

37 Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?

36 or deprive people of justice in court. 

The Lord isn’t happy to see ⸤these things⸥. 

37 Who was it who spoke and it came into being? 

It was the Lord who gave the order. 

36 or suppressing a person’s lawsuit —

the Lord does not approve of these things.

37 Who is there who speaks and it happens,

unless the Lord has ordained it?

36 when one’s case is subverted—

does the Lord not see it?

37 Who can command and have it done,

if the Lord has not ordained it?

36 to subvert a person in a legal dispute

—the Lord has not found delight in these things.

37 Who can speak and it will happen

if the Lord has not commanded it?

36 When people don’t treat a man fairly,

the Lord knows it.

37 Suppose people order something to happen.

It won’t happen unless the Lord has planned it.

36 To defraud a man in his lawsuit—

Of these things the Lord does not approve.

37 Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass,

Unless the Lord has commanded it?
