Lamentations 3:30–36 — New International Version (2011) (NIV)
30 Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him,
and let him be filled with disgrace.
31 For no one is cast off
by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
33 For he does not willingly bring affliction
or grief to anyone.
34 To crush underfoot
all prisoners in the land,
35 to deny people their rights
before the Most High,
36 to deprive them of justice—
would not the Lord see such things?
Lamentations 3:30–36 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
30 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — New Living Translation (NLT)
30 Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them
and accept the insults of their enemies.
31 For no one is abandoned
by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion
because of the greatness of his unfailing love.
33 For he does not enjoy hurting people
or causing them sorrow.
34 If people crush underfoot
all the prisoners of the land,
35 if they deprive others of their rights
in defiance of the Most High,
36 if they twist justice in the courts—
doesn’t the Lord see all these things?
Lamentations 3:30–36 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
30 Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him,
And be full of reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off forever.
32 Though He causes grief,
Yet He will show compassion
According to the multitude of His mercies.
33 For He does not afflict willingly,
Nor grieve the children of men.
34 To crush under one’s feet
All the prisoners of the earth,
35 To turn aside the justice due a man
Before the face of the Most High,
36 Or subvert a man in his cause—
The Lord does not approve.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — New Century Version (NCV)
30 He should let anyone slap his cheek;
he should be filled with shame.
31 The Lord will not reject
his people forever.
32 Although he brings sorrow,
he also has mercy and great love.
33 He does not like to punish people
or make them sad.
34 He sees if any prisoner of the earth
is crushed under his feet;
35 he sees if someone is treated unfairly
before the Most High God;
36 the Lord sees
if someone is cheated in his case in court.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — American Standard Version (ASV)
30 Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach. 31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever. 32 For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 33 For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. 34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, 35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, 36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
30 he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach. 31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever; 32 but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses: 33 for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men. 34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, 35 to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, 36 to wrong a man in his cause, —will not the Lord see it?
Lamentations 3:30–36 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
30 They should turn their cheeks to the one who strikes them
and take their fill of insults.
31 “The Lord will not reject ⸤such⸥ people forever.
32 Even if he makes us suffer,
he will have compassion
in keeping with the richness of his mercy.
33 He does not willingly bring suffering or grief to anyone,
34 crush any prisoner on earth underfoot,
35 deny people their rights in the presence of the Most High God,
36 or deprive people of justice in court.
The Lord isn’t happy to see ⸤these things⸥.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

to the one who would strike him;
let him be filled with shame.
31 For the Lord
will not reject us forever.
32 Even if He causes suffering,
He will show compassion
according to His abundant, faithful love.
33 For He does not enjoy bringing affliction
or suffering on mankind.
34 Crushing all the prisoners of the land
beneath one’s feet,
35 denying justice to a man

36 or suppressing a person’s lawsuit —
the Lord does not approve of these things.

34 When all the prisoners of the land
are crushed under foot,
35 when justice is perverted
in the presence of the Most High,
36 when one’s case is subverted—
does the Lord not see it?
Lamentations 3:30–36 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
30 Let him give a cheek to his smiter,
let him be filled with disgrace.
31 For the Lord will not reject
forever.
32 For even though he causes grief he has compassion
according to the greatness of his loyal love.
33 He does not afflict willingly,
or grieve anyone.
34 To crush under his feet
all the prisoners of the earth;
35 to deprive one of justice
before the face of the Most High;
36 to subvert a person in a legal dispute
—the Lord has not found delight in these things.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

But he will also show loving concern.
How great his faithful love is!
33 He doesn’t want to bring pain
or suffering to people.
34 Every time people crush prisoners under their feet,
the Lord knows all about it.
35 When people refuse to give a man his rights,
the Most High God knows it.
36 When people don’t treat a man fairly,
the Lord knows it.
Lamentations 3:30–36 — New American Standard Bible (1995) (NASB95)

According to His abundant lovingkindness.
33 For He does not afflict willingly
Or grieve the sons of men.
34 To crush under His feet
All the prisoners of the land,
35 To deprive a man of justice
In the presence of the Most High,
36 To defraud a man in his lawsuit—
Of these things the Lord does not approve.
