9 Grain offerings and drink offerings

are cut off from the house of the Lord.

The priests are in mourning,

those who minister before the Lord.

10 The fields are ruined,

the ground is dried up;

the grain is destroyed,

the new wine is dried up,

the olive oil fails.

11 Despair, you farmers,

wail, you vine growers;

grieve for the wheat and the barley,

because the harvest of the field is destroyed.

12 The vine is dried up

and the fig tree is withered;

the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree—

all the trees of the field—are dried up.

Surely the people’s joy

is withered away.

13 Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn;

wail, you who minister before the altar.

Come, spend the night in sackcloth,

you who minister before my God;

for the grain offerings and drink offerings

are withheld from the house of your God.

9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord; The priests, the Lord’s ministers, mourn. 10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; For the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. 11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, For the wheat and for the barley; Because the harvest of the field is perished. 12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; The pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, Even all the trees of the field, are withered: Because joy is withered away from the sons of men. 13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: Howl, ye ministers of the altar: Come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: For the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

9 For there is no grain or wine

to offer at the Temple of the Lord.

So the priests are in mourning.

The ministers of the Lord are weeping.

10 The fields are ruined,

the land is stripped bare.

The grain is destroyed,

the grapes have shriveled,

and the olive oil is gone.

11 Despair, all you farmers!

Wail, all you vine growers!

Weep, because the wheat and barley—

all the crops of the field—are ruined.

12 The grapevines have dried up,

and the fig trees have withered.

The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—

all the fruit trees—have dried up.

And the people’s joy has dried up with them.

13 Dress yourselves in burlap and weep, you priests!

Wail, you who serve before the altar!

Come, spend the night in burlap,

you ministers of my God.

For there is no grain or wine

to offer at the Temple of your God.

Have been cut off from the house of the Lord;

The priests mourn, who minister to the Lord.

10 The field is wasted,

The land mourns;

For the grain is ruined,

The new wine is dried up,

The oil fails.

And the fig tree has withered;

The pomegranate tree,

The palm tree also,

And the apple tree—

9 There will be no more grain or drink offerings

to offer in the Temple of the Lord.

Because of this, the priests,

the servants of the Lord, are sad.

10 The fields are ruined;

the ground is dried up.

The grain is destroyed,

the new wine is dried up,

and the olive oil runs out.

11 Be sad, farmers.

Cry loudly, you who grow grapes.

Cry for the wheat and the barley.

Cry because the harvest of the field is lost.

12 The vines have become dry,

and the fig trees are dried up.

The pomegranate trees, the date palm trees, the apple trees—

all the trees in the field have died.

And the happiness of the people has died, too.

13 Priests, put on your rough cloth and cry to show your sadness.

Servants of the altar, cry out loud.

Servants of my God,

keep your rough cloth on all night to show your sadness.

Cry because there will be no more grain or drink offerings

to offer in the Temple of your God.

9 The meal-offering and the drink-offering are cut off from the house of Jehovah; the priests, Jehovah’s ministers, mourn. 10 The field is laid waste, the land mourneth; for the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. 11 Be confounded, O ye husbandmen, wail, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; for the harvest of the field is perished. 12 The vine is withered, and the fig-tree languisheth; the pomegranate-tree, the palm-tree also, and the apple-tree, even all the trees of the field are withered: for joy is withered away from the sons of men.

are no longer brought to the Lord’s temple. 

The priests, the Lord’s servants, mourn. 

10 Israel’s fields are ruined, and the ground is dried up. 

The grain has been destroyed. 

The new wine has dried up. 

The olive oil has run out. 

11 Be sad, you farmers! 

Cry loudly, you grape growers! 

Mourn for the wheat and the barley. 

The harvest is destroyed in the field. 

12 The grapevines are dried up. 

The fig trees are withered. 

The pomegranate, palm, and apricot trees, 

as well as all the trees in the orchards, have died. 

Yes, the joy of these people has died too. 

13 Put on your sackcloth and mourn, you priests. 

Cry loudly, you servants of the altar. 

Spend the night in sackcloth, you servants of my God.

the fig tree droops.

Pomegranate, palm, and apple—

all the trees of the field are dried up;

surely, joy withers away

among the people.

13 Put on sackcloth and lament, you priests;

wail, you ministers of the altar.

Come, pass the night in sackcloth,

you ministers of my God!

Grain offering and drink offering

are withheld from the house of your God.

9 The offering and libation are withheld

from the house of Yahweh.

The priests mourn,

the ministers of Yahweh.

10 The field is destroyed;

the earth mourns

because the grain is destroyed,

the new wine dries up,

the olive oil languishes.

11 Be ashamed, farmers;

Wail, vinedressers,

over the wheat and over the barley,

because the harvest of the field is ruined.

12 The vine withers

and the fig tree droops.

The pomegranate tree, and also the palm tree, the apple tree

—all the trees of the field—are dried up.

Indeed, joy is dried up

among the sons of men.

13 Gird yourselves and lament, O priests!

Wail, O ministers of the altar!

Come spend the night in sackcloth,

O ministers of my God,

because offering and libation

are withheld from the house of your God.

9 No one brings grain offerings and drink offerings

to the Lord’s house anymore.

So the priests who serve the Lord

are filled with sorrow.

10 Our fields are wiped out.

The ground is dried up.

The grain is destroyed.

The fresh wine is gone.

And there isn’t any more olive oil.

11 Farmers, be sad.

Cry, you who grow vines.

Sob because the wheat and barley are gone.

The crops in the fields are destroyed.

12 The vines and fig trees are dried up.

The pomegranate, palm and apple trees

don’t have any fruit on them.

In fact, all of the trees in the fields are dried up.

And my people’s joy has faded away.

13 Priests, put on black clothes and sob.

Cry, you who serve at the altar.

Come, you who serve my God in the temple.

Spend the night dressed in black clothes.

Sob because no one brings grain offerings and drink offerings

to the house of your God anymore.

The ministers of the Lord.

For the grain is ruined,

The new wine dries up,

Fresh oil fails.

11 Be ashamed, O farmers,

Wail, O vinedressers,

For the wheat and the barley;

Because the harvest of the field is destroyed.

12 The vine dries up

And the fig tree fails;

The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree,

All the trees of the field dry up.

Indeed, rejoicing dries up

From the sons of men.

13 Gird yourselves with sackcloth

And lament, O priests;

Wail, O ministers of the altar!

Come, spend the night in sackcloth

O ministers of my God,

For the grain offering and the drink offering

Are withheld from the house of your God.
