Job 36:17–19
Job 36:17–19 — New International Version (2011) (NIV)
17 But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked;
judgment and justice have taken hold of you.
18 Be careful that no one entices you by riches;
do not let a large bribe turn you aside.
19 Would your wealth or even all your mighty efforts
sustain you so you would not be in distress?
Job 36:17–19 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked:
Judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke:
Then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold,
Nor all the forces of strength.
Job 36:17–19 — New Living Translation (NLT)
17 But you are obsessed with whether the godless will be judged.
Don’t worry, judgment and justice will be upheld.
18 But watch out, or you may be seduced by wealth.
Don’t let yourself be bribed into sin.
19 Could all your wealth
or all your mighty efforts
keep you from distress?
Job 36:17–19 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
17 But you are filled with the judgment due the wicked;
Judgment and justice take hold of you.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest He take you away with one blow;
For a large ransom would not help you avoid it.
19 Will your riches,
Or all the mighty forces,
Keep you from distress?
Job 36:17–19 — New Century Version (NCV)
17 But now you are being punished like the wicked;
you are getting justice.
18 Be careful! Don’t be led away from God by riches;
don’t let much money turn you away.
19 Neither your wealth nor all your great strength
will keep you out of trouble.
Job 36:17–19 — American Standard Version (ASV)
17 But thou art full of the judgment of the wicked:
Judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18 For let not wrath stir thee up against chastisements;
Neither let the greatness of the ransom turn thee aside.
19 Will thy cry avail, that thou be not in distress,
Or all the forces of thy strength?
Job 36:17–19 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
17 But thou art full of the judgments of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee. 18 Because there is wrath, beware lest it take thee away through chastisement: then a great ransom could not avail thee. 19 Will he esteem thy riches? Not gold, nor all the resources of strength!
Job 36:17–19 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
17 But you are given the judgment evil people deserve.
A fair judgment will be upheld.
18 Be careful that you are not led astray with riches.
Don’t let a large bribe turn you ⸤to evil ways⸥.
19 Will your riches save you from having to suffer?
Will all your mighty strength help you?
Job 36:17–19 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

judgment and justice have seized you.
18 Be careful that no one lures you with riches;

keep you from distress?

or will all the force of your strength?

or all the efforts of your strength?
