19 “Tell us what we should say to him;

we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.

20 Should he be told that I want to speak?

Would anyone ask to be swallowed up?

21 Now no one can look at the sun,

bright as it is in the skies

after the wind has swept them clean.

19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; For we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? If a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. 21 And now men see not the bright light Which is in the clouds: But the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

19 “So teach the rest of us what to say to God.

We are too ignorant to make our own arguments.

20 Should God be notified that I want to speak?

Can people even speak when they are confused?

21 We cannot look at the sun,

for it shines brightly in the sky

when the wind clears away the clouds.

19 “Teach us what we should say to Him,

For we can prepare nothing because of the darkness.

20 Should He be told that I wish to speak?

If a man were to speak, surely he would be swallowed up.

21 Even now men cannot look at the light when it is bright in the skies,

When the wind has passed and cleared them.

19 Tell us what we should say to him;

we cannot get our arguments ready because we do not have enough understanding.

20 Should God be told that I want to speak?

Would a person ask to be swallowed up?

21 No one can look at the sun

when it is bright in the sky

after the wind has blown all the clouds away.

19 Teach us what we shall say unto him;

For we cannot set our speech in order by reason of darkness.

20 Shall it be told him that I would speak?

Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?

21 And now men see not the light which is bright in the skies;

But the wind passeth, and cleareth them.

19 Teach us what we shall say unto him! We cannot order our words by reason of darkness. 20 Shall it be told him if I would speak? if a man so say, surely he shall be swallowed up.

21 And now men see not the light as it gleameth, it is hidden in the skies. But the wind passeth by and cleareth them.

19 Teach us what we should say to him.

Or did a man say that he would be communicated with?

21 So then, they do not look at the light when it is bright in the skies,

when the wind has passed and has cleansed them.

19 “Job, tell us what we should say to God.

We can’t prepare our case

because our minds are dark.

20 Should he be told that I want to speak?

Would any man ask to be destroyed by him?

21 No one can look at the sun.

It’s too bright after the wind has swept the skies clean.

19 “Teach us what we shall say to Him;

We cannot arrange our case because of darkness.

20 “Shall it be told Him that I would speak?

Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up?

21 “Now men do not see the light which is bright in the skies;

But the wind has passed and cleared them.
