Job 10:1–7 — The New International Version (NIV)

“I loathe my very life;

therefore I will give free rein to my complaint

and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.

I say to God: Do not declare me guilty,

but tell me what charges you have against me.

Does it please you to oppress me,

to spurn the work of your hands,

while you smile on the plans of the wicked?

Do you have eyes of flesh?

Do you see as a mortal sees?

Are your days like those of a mortal

or your years like those of a strong man,

that you must search out my faults

and probe after my sin—

though you know that I am not guilty

and that no one can rescue me from your hand?

Job 10:1–7 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

My soul is weary of my life;

I will leave my complaint upon myself;

I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me;

Shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.

Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress,

That thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands,

And shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

Hast thou eyes of flesh?

Or seest thou as man seeth?

Are thy days as the days of man?

Are thy years as man’s days,

That thou inquirest after mine iniquity,

And searchest after my sin?

Thou knowest that I am not wicked;

And there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.

Job 10:1–7 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“I am disgusted with my life.

Let me complain freely.

My bitter soul must complain.

I will say to God, ‘Don’t simply condemn me—

tell me the charge you are bringing against me.

What do you gain by oppressing me?

Why do you reject me, the work of your own hands,

while smiling on the schemes of the wicked?

Are your eyes like those of a human?

Do you see things only as people see them?

Is your lifetime only as long as ours?

Is your life so short

that you must quickly probe for my guilt

and search for my sin?

Although you know I am not guilty,

no one can rescue me from your hands.

Job 10:1–7 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“My soul loathes my life; I will give free course to my complaint,

I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me;

Show me why You contend with me.

Does it seem good to You that You should oppress,

That You should despise the work of Your hands,

And smile on the counsel of the wicked?

Do You have eyes of flesh?

Or do You see as man sees?

Are Your days like the days of a mortal man?

Are Your years like the days of a mighty man,

That You should seek for my iniquity

And search out my sin,

Although You know that I am not wicked,

And there is no one who can deliver from Your hand?

Job 10:1–7 — New Century Version (NCV)

“I hate my life,

so I will complain without holding back;

I will speak because I am so unhappy.

I will say to God: Do not hold me guilty,

but tell me what you have against me.

Does it make you happy to trouble me?

Don’t you care about me, the work of your hands?

Are you happy with the plans of evil people?

Do you have human eyes

that see as we see?

Are your days like the days of humans,

and your years like our years?

You look for the evil I have done

and search for my sin.

You know I am not guilty,

but no one can save me from your power.

Job 10:1–7 — American Standard Version (ASV)

My soul is weary of my life;

I will give free course to my complaint;

I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me;

Show me wherefore thou contendest with me.

Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress,

That thou shouldest despise the work of thy hands,

And shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

Hast thou eyes of flesh?

Or seest thou as man seeth?

Are thy days as the days of man,

Or thy years as man’s days,

That thou inquirest after mine iniquity,

And searchest after my sin,

Although thou knowest that I am not wicked,

And there is none that can deliver out of thy hand?

Job 10:1–7 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

My soul is weary of my life: I will give free course to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. I will say unto †God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou strivest with me. Doth it please thee to oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thy hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked? Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth? Are thy days as the days of a mortal? are thy years as a man’s days, That thou searchest after mine iniquity, and inquirest into my sin; Since thou knowest that I am not wicked, and that there is none that delivereth out of thy hand?

Job 10:1–7 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

“I hate my life.

I will freely express my complaint.

I will speak as bitterly as I feel.

I will say to God,

‘Don’t condemn me.

Let me know why you are quarreling with me.

What do you gain by mistreating me,

by rejecting the work of your hands

while you favor the plans of the wicked?

Do you actually have human eyes?

Do you see as a mortal sees?

Are your days like a mortal’s days?

Are your years like a human’s years?

Is that why you look for guilt in me

and search for sin in me?

You know I’m not guilty,

but there is no one to rescue me from your hands.

Job 10:1–7 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

I am disgusted with my life.

I will express my complaint

and speak in the bitterness of my soul.

I will say to God:

“Do not declare me guilty!

Let me know why You prosecute me.

Is it good for You to oppress,

to reject the work of Your hands,

and favor the plans of the wicked?

Do You have eyes of flesh,

or do You see as a human sees?

Are Your days like those of a human,

or Your years like those of a man,

that You look for my wrongdoing

and search for my sin,

even though You know that I am not wicked

and that there is no one who can deliver from Your hand?

Job 10:1–7 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

“I loathe my life;

I will give free utterance to my complaint;

I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

I will say to God, Do not condemn me;

let me know why you contend against me.

Does it seem good to you to oppress,

to despise the work of your hands

and favor the schemes of the wicked?

Do you have eyes of flesh?

Do you see as humans see?

Are your days like the days of mortals,

or your years like human years,

that you seek out my iniquity

and search for my sin,

although you know that I am not guilty,

and there is no one to deliver out of your hand?

Job 10:1–7 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

“My inner self loathes my life;

I want to give vent to my complaint;

I want to speak out of the bitterness of my inner self.

I will say to God, ‘You should not condemn me;

let me know why you contend against me.

Is it good for you that you oppress,

that you despise the labor of your hands,

and you smile over the schemes of the wicked?

Do you have eyes of flesh?

Or do you see as human beings see?

Are your days as the days of human beings,

or your years as the days of man,

that you seek out my iniquity,

and you search for my sin

because of your knowledge that I am not guilty,

and there is no escaping from your hand?

Job 10:1–7 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

“I’m sick of living.

So I’ll talk openly about my problems.

I’ll speak out because my spirit is bitter.

I’ll say to God, ‘Don’t find me guilty.

Instead, tell me what charges

you are bringing against me.

Does it make you happy when you crush me?

Does it please you to turn your back on what you have made?

While you do those things,

you smile on the plans of sinful people!

You don’t have human eyes.

You don’t see as people see.

Your days aren’t like the days of a human being.

Your years aren’t like the years of a mere man.

So you search for my mistakes.

You look for my sin.

You already know I’m not guilty.

No one can save me from your powerful hand.

Job 10:1–7 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

“I loathe my own life;

I will give full vent to my complaint;

I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

“I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me;

Let me know why You contend with me.

‘Is it right for You indeed to oppress,

To reject the labor of Your hands,

And to look favorably on the schemes of the wicked?

‘Have You eyes of flesh?

Or do You see as a man sees?

‘Are Your days as the days of a mortal,

Or Your years as man’s years,

That You should seek for my guilt

And search after my sin?

According to Your knowledge I am indeed not guilty,

Yet there is no deliverance from Your hand.
