47 For the time will surely come

when I will punish the idols of Babylon;

her whole land will be disgraced

and her slain will all lie fallen within her.

48 Then heaven and earth and all that is in them

will shout for joy over Babylon,

for out of the north

destroyers will attack her,”

declares the Lord.

49 “Babylon must fall because of Israel’s slain,

just as the slain in all the earth

have fallen because of Babylon.

47 Therefore, behold, the days come, That I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: And her whole land shall be confounded, And all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. 48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: For the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the Lord. 49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, So at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

47 For the time is surely coming

when I will punish this great city and all her idols.

Her whole land will be disgraced,

and her dead will lie in the streets.

48 Then the heavens and earth will rejoice,

for out of the north will come destroying armies

against Babylon,” says the Lord.

49 “Just as Babylon killed the people of Israel

and others throughout the world,

so must her people be killed.

47 Therefore behold, the days are coming

That I will bring judgment on the carved images of Babylon;

Her whole land shall be ashamed,

And all her slain shall fall in her midst.

48 Then the heavens and the earth and all that is in them

Shall sing joyously over Babylon;

For the plunderers shall come to her from the north,” says the Lord.

49 As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall,

So at Babylon the slain of all the earth shall fall.

47 The time will surely come

when I will punish the idols of Babylon,

and the whole land will be disgraced.

There will be many dead people lying all around.

48 Then heaven and earth and all that is in them

will shout for joy about Babylon.

They will shout because the army comes from the north

to destroy Babylon,” says the Lord.

49 “Babylon must fall, because she killed people from Israel.

She killed people from everywhere on earth.

47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will execute judgment upon the graven images of Babylon; and her whole land shall be confounded; and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. 48 Then the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for joy over Babylon; for the destroyers shall come unto her from the north, saith Jehovah. 49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the land.

47 That is why the days are coming when I will punish Babylon’s idols. 

The whole country will be put to shame, 

and all its soldiers will lie dead. 

48 Then heaven and earth and everything in them will rejoice over Babylon, 

because destroyers from the north will attack it,” 

declares the Lord. 

49 Because the people of Babylon have killed many Israelites 

and because they have killed many people throughout the earth, 

Babylon must fall. 

47 Therefore, look, the days are coming

when I will punish Babylon’s carved images.

Her entire land will suffer shame,

and all her slain will lie fallen within her.

48 Heaven and earth and everything in them

will shout for joy over Babylon

because the destroyers from the north

will come against her.

This is the Lord’s declaration.

49 Babylon must fall because of the slain of Israel,

even as the slain of all the earth fell

because of Babylon.

47 Assuredly, the days are coming

when I will punish the images of Babylon;

her whole land shall be put to shame,

and all her slain shall fall in her midst.

48 Then the heavens and the earth,

and all that is in them,

shall shout for joy over Babylon;

for the destroyers shall come against them out of the north,

says the Lord.

49 Babylon must fall for the slain of Israel,

as the slain of all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.

47 therefore look, days are coming,

and I will punish the images of Babylon,

and all her land will be put to shame,

and all her slain ones will fall in the midst of her.

48 Then the heaven and the earth and all that is in them

will shout for joy over Babylon,

for from the north

the destroyers will come to it,” declares Yahweh.

49 Babylon must fall not only because of the slain ones of Israel,

but also because of Babylon the slain ones of all the earth have fallen.

47 I will punish the gods of Babylon.

That time will certainly come.

Then the whole land will be full of shame.

Its people will lie down and die there.

48 So heaven and earth and everything in them will shout for joy.

They will be glad because of what will happen to Babylon.

Armies will attack it from the north.

And they will destroy it,”

announces the Lord.

49 “Babylon’s people have killed my people Israel.

They have also killed people all over the earth.

So now Babylon itself must fall.

47 Therefore behold, days are coming

When I will punish the idols of Babylon;

And her whole land will be put to shame

And all her slain will fall in her midst.

48 “Then heaven and earth and all that is in them

Will shout for joy over Babylon,

For the destroyers will come to her from the north,”

Declares the Lord.

49 Indeed Babylon is to fall for the slain of Israel,

As also for Babylon the slain of all the earth have fallen.
