Jeremiah 49:30–33

30 “Flee quickly away!

Stay in deep caves, you who live in Hazor,”

declares the Lord.

“Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has plotted against you;

he has devised a plan against you.

31 “Arise and attack a nation at ease,

which lives in confidence,”

declares the Lord,

“a nation that has neither gates nor bars;

its people live far from danger.

32 Their camels will become plunder,

and their large herds will be spoils of war.

I will scatter to the winds those who are in distant places

and will bring disaster on them from every side,”

declares the Lord.

33 “Hazor will become a haunt of jackals,

a desolate place forever.

No one will live there;

no people will dwell in it.”

30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor,

Saith the Lord;

For Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you,

And hath conceived a purpose against you.

31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation,

That dwelleth without care, saith the Lord,

Which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.

32 And their camels shall be a booty,

And the multitude of their cattle a spoil:

And I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners;

And I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the Lord.

33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons,

And a desolation for ever:

There shall no man abide there,

Nor any son of man dwell in it.

30 Run for your lives,” says the Lord.

“Hide yourselves in deep caves, you people of Hazor,

for King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has plotted against you

and is preparing to destroy you.

31 “Go up and attack that complacent nation,”

says the Lord.

“Its people live alone in the desert

without walls or gates.

32 Their camels and other livestock will all be yours.

I will scatter to the winds these people

who live in remote places.

I will bring calamity upon them

from every direction,” says the Lord.

33 “Hazor will be inhabited by jackals,

and it will be desolate forever.

No one will live there;

no one will inhabit it.”

30 “Flee, get far away! Dwell in the depths,

O inhabitants of Hazor!” says the Lord.

“For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you,

And has conceived a plan against you.

31 “Arise, go up to the wealthy nation that dwells securely,” says the Lord,

“Which has neither gates nor bars,

Dwelling alone.

32 Their camels shall be for booty,

And the multitude of their cattle for plunder.

I will scatter to all winds those in the farthest corners,

And I will bring their calamity from all its sides,” says the Lord.

33 “Hazor shall be a dwelling for jackals, a desolation forever;

No one shall reside there,

Nor son of man dwell in it.”

30 “Run away quickly!

People in Hazor, find a good place to hide!” says the Lord.

“Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has made plans against you

and wants to defeat you.

31 “Get up! Attack the nation that is comfortable,

that is sure no one will defeat it,” says the Lord.

“It does not have gates or fences to protect it.

Its people live alone.

32 The enemy will steal their camels

and their large herds of cattle as war prizes.

I will scatter the people who cut their hair short to every part of the earth,

and I will bring disaster on them from everywhere,” says the Lord.

33 “The city of Hazor will become a home for wild dogs;

it will be an empty desert forever.

No one will live there,

and no one will stay in it.”

30 Flee ye, wander far off, dwell in the depths, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you. 31 Arise, get you up unto a nation that is at ease, that dwelleth without care, saith Jehovah; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone. 32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter unto all winds them that have the corners of their hair cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, saith Jehovah. 33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein.

30 Flee, wander very far, dwell deep down, ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you. 31 Arise, get you up against the nation at ease, that dwelleth securely, saith Jehovah, which hath neither gates nor bars: they dwell alone. 32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil; and I will scatter to every wind them that have the corners of their beard cut off, and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith Jehovah. 33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever. No one shall dwell there, neither shall a son of man sojourn therein.

30 Run far away! Find a place to hide, 

inhabitants of Hazor, declares the Lord. 

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has made plans against you 

and intends to attack you. 

31 Get ready! Attack the nation living peacefully and securely, 

declares the Lord. 

It is a nation with no gates or bars. 

Its people live alone. 

32 Their camels will be taken as prizes. 

Their large herds will be taken as loot. 

I will scatter to the winds 

those who shave the hair on their foreheads. 

I will bring disaster on them from every side, 

declares the Lord. 

33 Hazor will be a place where only jackals live. 

It will become a permanent wasteland. 

No one will live there. 

No human will stay there. 

30 Run! Escape quickly! Lie low,

residents of Hazor—

this is the Lord’s declaration—

for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon

has drawn up a plan against you;

he has devised a strategy against you.

31 Rise up, go up against a nation at ease,

one living in security.

This is the Lord’s declaration.

They have no doors, not even a gate bar;

they live alone.

32 Their camels will become plunder,

and their massive herds of cattle will become spoil.

I will scatter them to the wind in every direction,

those who shave their temples;

I will bring calamity on them across all their borders.

This is the Lord’s declaration.

33 Hazor will become a jackals’ den,

a desolation forever.

No one will live there;

no human being will even stay in it as a temporary resident.

30 Flee; wander far away; hide in deep places,

O inhabitants of Hazor!

says the Lord.

For King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon

has made a plan against you

and formed a purpose against you.

31 Rise up; advance against a nation at ease,

that lives secure,

says the Lord,

that has no gates or bars,

that lives alone.

32 Their camels shall become plunder;

their herds of cattle a spoil.

I will scatter to every wind

those who have shaved temples,

and I will bring calamity

against them from every side,

says the Lord.

33 Hazor shall become a lair of jackals,

an everlasting waste;

no one shall live there,

nor shall anyone settle in it.

30 Flee! Wander far away! Get down low!

O inhabitants of Hazor,” declares Yahweh.

“For Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has planned a plan against you.

And he has schemed a scheme against you.

31 Rise up, go up against a nation which is at ease,

living securely,” declares Yahweh.

“There are no gates and there are no bars for them,

they dwell alone.

32 And their camels will become as plunder,

and the multitude of their livestock as spoil.

And I will scatter to every wind those who are trimmed to the side,

and from every side I will bring their disaster,” declares Yahweh.

33 “And Hazor will become as a lair of jackals,

a waste forever;

no one will live there,

and no son of humankind will dwell as an alien in it.”

30 “Run away quickly!

You who live in Hazor, stay in deep caves,”

announces the Lord.

“Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylonia,

has made plans against you.

He has decided to attack you.

31 “Armies of Babylonia, prepare for battle.

Attack a nation that feels secure.

Its people do not have any worries,”

announces the Lord.

“That nation does not have gates or heavy metal bars.

Its people live all alone.

32 Their camels will be stolen.

Their large herds will be taken away.

I will scatter to the winds those who are in places far away.

I will bring trouble on them from every side,”

announces the Lord.

33 “Hazor will become a home for wild dogs.

It will be a dry and empty desert forever.

No one will live in that land.

No one will stay there even for a short time.”

30 “Run away, flee! Dwell in the depths,

O inhabitants of Hazor,” declares the Lord;

“For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has formed a plan against you

And devised a scheme against you.

31 “Arise, go up against a nation which is at ease,

Which lives securely,” declares the Lord.

“It has no gates or bars;

They dwell alone.

32 “Their camels will become plunder,

And their many cattle for booty,

And I will scatter to all the winds those who cut the corners of their hair;

And I will bring their disaster from every side,” declares the Lord.

33 “Hazor will become a haunt of jackals,

A desolation forever;

No one will live there,

Nor will a son of man reside in it.”
