19 Have you rejected Judah completely?

Do you despise Zion?

Why have you afflicted us

so that we cannot be healed?

We hoped for peace

but no good has come,

for a time of healing

but there is only terror.

20 We acknowledge our wickedness, Lord,

and the guilt of our ancestors;

we have indeed sinned against you.

19 Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, and there is no good; And for the time of healing, and behold trouble! 20 We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: For we have sinned against thee.

19 Lord, have you completely rejected Judah?

Do you really hate Jerusalem?

Why have you wounded us past all hope of healing?

We hoped for peace, but no peace came.

We hoped for a time of healing, but found only terror.

20 Lord, we confess our wickedness

and that of our ancestors, too.

We all have sinned against you.

19 Have You utterly rejected Judah?

Has Your soul loathed Zion?

Why have You stricken us so that there is no healing for us?

We looked for peace, but there was no good;

And for the time of healing, and there was trouble.

20 We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness

And the iniquity of our fathers,

For we have sinned against You.

19 Lord, have you completely rejected the nation of Judah?

Do you hate Jerusalem?

Why have you hurt us so badly

that we cannot be made well again?

We hoped for peace,

but nothing good has come.

We looked for a time of healing,

but only terror came.

20 Lord, we admit that we are wicked

and that our ancestors did evil things.

We have sinned against you.

19 Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay! 20 We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.

Peace is looked for, and there is no good, —and a time of healing, and behold terror! 20 Jehovah, we acknowledge our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.

We hope for peace, but no good comes from it. 

We hope for a time of healing, but there’s only terror. 

20 O Lord, we realize our wickedness 

and the wrongs done by our ancestors. 

We have sinned against you.

Do You detest Zion?

Why do You strike us

with no hope of healing for us?

We hoped for peace,

but there was nothing good;

for a time of healing,

but there was only terror.

20 We acknowledge our wickedness, Lord,

the guilt of our fathers;

indeed, we have sinned against You.

19 Have you completely rejected Judah?

Does your heart loathe Zion?

Why have you struck us down

so that there is no healing for us?

We look for peace, but find no good;

for a time of healing, but there is terror instead.

20 We acknowledge our wickedness, O Lord,

the iniquity of our ancestors,

for we have sinned against you.

19 Have you completely rejected Judah?

Or has your soul loathed Zion?

Why have you struck us

so that there is no healing for us?

We hope for peace, but there is no good,

and for a time of healing, but look, there is terror.

20 We know, O Yahweh, our wickedness,

the iniquity of our ancestors,

for we have sinned against you.

19 Lord, have you turned your back on Judah completely?

Do you hate the city of Zion?

Why have you made us suffer?

We can’t be healed.

We hoped peace would come.

But nothing good has happened to us.

We hoped we would finally be healed.

But all we got was terror.

20 Lord, we admit we’ve done evil things.

We also admit that our people of long ago were guilty.

It’s true that we’ve sinned against you.

19 Have You completely rejected Judah?

Or have You loathed Zion?

Why have You stricken us so that we are beyond healing?

We waited for peace, but nothing good came;

And for a time of healing, but behold, terror!

20 We know our wickedness, O Lord,

The iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against You.
