13 “From the least to the greatest,

all are greedy for gain;

prophets and priests alike,

all practice deceit.

14 They dress the wound of my people

as though it were not serious.

‘Peace, peace,’ they say,

when there is no peace.

13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. 14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

13 “From the least to the greatest,

their lives are ruled by greed.

From prophets to priests,

they are all frauds.

14 They offer superficial treatments

for my people’s mortal wound.

They give assurances of peace

when there is no peace.

13 “Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them,

Everyone is given to covetousness;

And from the prophet even to the priest,

Everyone deals falsely.

14 They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly,

Saying, ‘Peace, peace!’

When there is no peace.

13 “Everyone, from the least important to the greatest,

is greedy for money.

Even the prophets and priests

all tell lies.

14 They tried to heal my people’s serious injuries

as if they were small wounds.

They said, ‘It’s all right, it’s all right.’

But really, it is not all right.

13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. 14 They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely. 14 And they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace.

13 “All of them, from the least important to the most important, 

are eager to make money dishonestly. 

All of them, from prophets to priests, act deceitfully. 

14 They treat my people’s wounds as though they were not serious, saying, 

‘Everything is alright! Everything is alright!’ 

But it’s not alright. 

13 For from the least to the greatest of them,

everyone is making profit dishonestly.

From prophet to priest,

everyone deals falsely.

14 They have treated My people’s brokenness superficially,

claiming, “Peace, peace,”

when there is no peace.

13 For from the least to the greatest of them,

everyone is greedy for unjust gain;

and from prophet to priest,

everyone deals falsely.

14 They have treated the wound of my people carelessly,

saying, “Peace, peace,”

when there is no peace.

13 “For from the smallest of them to the greatest of them,

everyone makes profit for unlawful gain.

And from the prophet to the priest,

everyone practices deceit.

14 And they have treated the wound of my people lightly,

saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ but there is no peace.

13 Everyone wants to get richer and richer,

from the least important of them to the most important.

Prophets and priests alike

try to fool everyone they can.

14 They bandage the wounds of my people

as if they were not very deep.

‘Peace, peace,’ they say.

But there isn’t any peace.

13 “For from the least of them even to the greatest of them,

Everyone is greedy for gain,

And from the prophet even to the priest

Everyone deals falsely.

14 “They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially,

Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’

But there is no peace.
