Jeremiah 13:15–17 — The New International Version (NIV)

15 Hear and pay attention,

do not be arrogant,

for the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

before he brings the darkness,

before your feet stumble

on the darkening hills.

You hope for light,

but he will turn it to utter darkness

and change it to deep gloom.

17 If you do not listen,

I will weep in secret

because of your pride;

my eyes will weep bitterly,

overflowing with tears,

because the Lord’s flock will be taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken. 16 Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. 17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — New Living Translation (NLT)

15 Listen and pay attention!

Do not be arrogant, for the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

before it is too late.

Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you,

causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains.

For then, when you look for light,

you will find only terrible darkness and gloom.

17 And if you still refuse to listen,

I will weep alone because of your pride.

My eyes will overflow with tears,

because the Lord’s flock will be led away into exile.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

15 Hear and give ear:

Do not be proud,

For the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

Before He causes darkness,

And before your feet stumble

On the dark mountains,

And while you are looking for light,

He turns it into the shadow of death

And makes it dense darkness.

17 But if you will not hear it,

My soul will weep in secret for your pride;

My eyes will weep bitterly

And run down with tears,

Because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — New Century Version (NCV)

15 Listen and pay attention.

Don’t be too proud,

because the Lord has spoken to you.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

before he brings darkness

and before you slip and fall

on the dark hills.

You hope for light,

but he will turn it into thick darkness;

he will change it into deep gloom.

17 If you don’t listen to him,

I will cry secretly

because of your pride.

I will cry painfully,

and my eyes will overflow with tears,

because the Lord’s people will be captured.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — American Standard Version (ASV)

15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud; for Jehovah hath spoken. 16 Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. 17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah’s flock is taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

15 Hear ye, and give ear, be not lifted up; for Jehovah hath spoken. 16 Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the mountains of twilight; and ye shall look for light, but he will turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. 17 And if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah’s flock is gone into captivity.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

15 Listen, and pay attention!

Don’t be arrogant. The Lord has spoken.

16 Honor the Lord your God before it gets dark,

before your feet stumble on the mountains in the twilight.

You will look for light,

but the Lord will turn it into the shadow of death

and change it into deep darkness.

17 If you won’t listen,

I will cry secretly over your arrogance.

I will cry bitterly, and my eyes will flow with tears

because the Lord’s flock will be taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

15 Listen and pay attention. Do not be proud,

for the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

before He brings darkness,

before your feet stumble

on the mountains at dusk.

You wait for light,

but He brings darkest gloom

and makes thick darkness.

17 But if you will not listen,

my innermost being will weep in secret

because of your pride.

My eyes will overflow with tears,

for the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

15 Hear and give ear; do not be haughty,

for the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God

before he brings darkness,

and before your feet stumble

on the mountains at twilight;

while you look for light,

he turns it into gloom

and makes it deep darkness.

17 But if you will not listen,

my soul will weep in secret for your pride;

my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears,

because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

15 Listen, and pay attention,

you must not be haughty, for Yahweh has spoken.

16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before he brings darkness,

and before your feet stumble on the mountains at twilight.

And you will hope for light, but he makes it as gloom,

he makes it as thick darkness.

17 But if you will not listen to it,

my inner self will weep in secret places,

because of the presence of your pride.

And my eyes will weep bitterly,

and they will melt in tears,

because the flock of Yahweh has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

15 People of Judah, listen to me.

Pay attention. Don’t be proud.

The Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God.

Honor him before he sends

darkness to cover the land.

Do it before you trip and fall

on the darkened hills.

You hope that light will come.

But he will turn it into thick darkness.

He will change it to deep shadows.

17 If you don’t listen,

I will sob in secret.

Because you are so proud,

I will sob bitterly.

Tears will flow from my eyes.

The Lord’s flock will be taken away as prisoners.

Jeremiah 13:15–17 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

15 Listen and give heed, do not be haughty,

For the Lord has spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God,

Before He brings darkness

And before your feet stumble

On the dusky mountains,

And while you are hoping for light

He makes it into deep darkness,

And turns it into gloom.

17 But if you will not listen to it,

My soul will sob in secret for such pride;

And my eyes will bitterly weep

And flow down with tears,

Because the flock of the Lord has been taken captive.
