11 My heart laments for Moab like a harp,

my inmost being for Kir Hareseth.

12 When Moab appears at her high place,

she only wears herself out;

when she goes to her shrine to pray,

it is to no avail.

13 This is the word the Lord has already spoken concerning Moab.

11 Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab,

And mine inward parts for Kir-haresh.

12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place,

That he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

13 This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.

11 My heart’s cry for Moab is like a lament on a harp.

I am filled with anguish for Kir-hareseth.

12 The people of Moab will worship at their pagan shrines,

but it will do them no good.

They will cry to the gods in their temples,

but no one will be able to save them.

13 The Lord has already said these things about Moab in the past.

11 Therefore my heart shall resound like a harp for Moab,

And my inner being for Kir Heres.

12 And it shall come to pass,

When it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place,

That he will come to his sanctuary to pray;

But he will not prevail.

13 This is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

11 My heart cries for Moab like a harp playing a funeral song;

I am very sad for Kir Hareseth.

12 The people of Moab will go to their places of worship

and will try to pray.

But when they go to their temple to pray,

they will not be able.

13 Earlier the Lord said these things about Moab.

11 Wherefore my heart soundeth like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kir-heres. 12 And it shall come to pass, when Moab presenteth himself, when he wearieth himself upon the high place, and shall come to his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail.

13 This is the word that Jehovah spake concerning Moab in time past.

11 Therefore my bowels sound like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirheres. 12 And it shall come to pass, when Moab shall appear, shall weary himself on the high place, and enter into his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail. 13 This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken from of old concerning Moab.

11 That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. 

My soul mourns for Kir Hareseth. 

12 When the people of Moab appear at the worship site, 

they will only wear themselves out. 

They will come into the holy place to pray, 

but they won’t be able to. 

13 This is the message that the Lord spoke about Moab in the past.

11 Therefore I moan like the sound of a lyre for Moab,

as does my innermost being for Kir-heres.

12 When Moab appears on the high place,

when he tires himself out

and comes to his sanctuary to pray,

it will do him no good.

13 This is the message that the Lord previously announced about Moab.

11 Therefore my heart throbs like a harp for Moab,

and my very soul for Kir-heres.

12 When Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself upon the high place, when he comes to his sanctuary to pray, he will not prevail.

13 This was the word that the Lord spoke concerning Moab in the past.

11 Therefore my heart moans like a harp for Moab

and my inner parts for Kir-heres.

12 And this shall happen:

when Moab appears, when it is weary upon the high place

and it comes to its sanctuary to pray, it will not prevail.

13 This was the word that Yahweh spoke to Moab in the past.

11 My heart sobs over Moab like a song of sadness played on a harp.

Deep down inside me I sob over Kir Hareseth.

12 Moab’s people go to their high place to pray.

But all they do is wear themselves out.

Their god Chemosh can’t help them at all.

13 That’s the message the Lord has already spoken about Moab.

11 Therefore my heart intones like a harp for Moab

And my inward feelings for Kir-hareseth.

12 So it will come about when Moab presents himself,

When he wearies himself upon his high place

And comes to his sanctuary to pray,

That he will not prevail.

13 This is the word which the Lord spoke earlier concerning Moab.
