Isaiah 15:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV)

A prophecy against Moab:

Ar in Moab is ruined,

destroyed in a night!

Kir in Moab is ruined,

destroyed in a night!

Dibon goes up to its temple,

to its high places to weep;

Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba.

Every head is shaved

and every beard cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

The burden of Moab.

Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;

Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;

He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep:

Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba:

On all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — New Living Translation (NLT)

This message came to me concerning Moab:

In one night the town of Ar will be leveled,

and the city of Kir will be destroyed.

Your people will go to their temple in Dibon to mourn.

They will go to their sacred shrines to weep.

They will wail for the fate of Nebo and Medeba,

shaving their heads in sorrow and cutting off their beards.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

The burden against Moab.

Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste

And destroyed,

Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste

And destroyed,

He has gone up to the temple and Dibon,

To the high places to weep.

Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba;

On all their heads will be baldness,

And every beard cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — New Century Version (NCV)

This is a message about Moab:

In one night armies took the wealth from Ar in Moab,

and it was destroyed.

In one night armies took the wealth from Kir in Moab,

and it was destroyed.

The people of Dibon go to the places of worship to cry.

The people of Moab cry for the cities of Nebo and Medeba.

Every head and beard has been shaved to show how sad Moab is.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — American Standard Version (ASV)

The burden of Moab.

For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nought; for in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nought. They are gone up to Bayith, and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep: Moab waileth over Nebo, and over Medeba; on all their heads is baldness, every beard is cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

The burden of Moab: For in the night of being laid waste, Ar of Moab is destroyed; for in the night of being laid waste, Kir of Moab is destroyed! He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep; Moab howleth over Nebo, and over Medeba; on all their heads is baldness, every beard is cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

This is the divine revelation about Moab.

In a single night Ar in Moab is laid waste and destroyed!

In a single night Kir in Moab is laid waste and destroyed!

The people of Dibon go to the temple,

to the worship sites, to cry.

Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba.

Every head is shaved bald, and every beard is cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

An oracle against Moab:

Ar in Moab is devastated,

destroyed in a night.

Kir in Moab is devastated,

destroyed in a night.

Dibon went up to its temple

to weep at its high places.

Moab wails on Nebo and at Medeba.

Every head is shaved;

every beard is cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

An oracle concerning Moab.

Because Ar is laid waste in a night,

Moab is undone;

because Kir is laid waste in a night,

Moab is undone.

Dibon has gone up to the temple,

to the high places to weep;

over Nebo and over Medeba

Moab wails.

On every head is baldness,

every beard is shorn;

Isaiah 15:1–2 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

An oracle of Moab:

Because Ar is devastated in a night, Moab is destroyed;

because Kir of Moab is devastated in a night, it is destroyed.

It has gone up to the house,

and Dibon to the high places

for weeping over Nebo,

and Moab wails over Medeba.

Every head is bald,

every beard is shaved.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Here is a message the Lord gave me about Moab.

The city of Ar in Moab is destroyed.

It happened in a single night.

Kir in Moab is also destroyed.

It happened in a single night.

The people of Dibon go up to their temple to worship.

They go to their high places to sob.

The people of Moab cry over the cities of Nebo and Medeba.

All of their heads are shaved.

All of their beards have been cut off.

Isaiah 15:1–2 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

The oracle concerning Moab.

Surely in a night Ar of Moab is devastated and ruined;

Surely in a night Kir of Moab is devastated and ruined.

They have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, even to the high places to weep.

Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba;

Everyone’s head is bald and every beard is cut off.
