7 sThe days of punishment have come;
the days of recompense have come;
Israel shall know it.
tThe prophet is a fool;
the man of the spirit is mad,
because of your great iniquity
and great hatred.
8 The prophet is uthe watchman of Ephraim with my God;
yet va fowler’s snare is on all his ways,
and hatred in the house of his God.
9 wThey have deeply corrupted themselves
as xin the days of Gibeah:
whe will remember their iniquity;
he will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — The New International Version (NIV)
7 The days of punishment are coming,
the days of reckoning are at hand.
Let Israel know this.
Because your sins are so many
and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,
the inspired person a maniac.
8 The prophet, along with my God,
is the watchman over Ephraim,
yet snares await him on all his paths,
and hostility in the house of his God.
9 They have sunk deep into corruption,
as in the days of Gibeah.
God will remember their wickedness
and punish them for their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
7 The days of visitation are come, The days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: The prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, For the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred. 8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: But the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, And hatred in the house of his God. 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: Therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)
7 The time of Israel’s punishment has come;
the day of payment is here.
Soon Israel will know this all too well.
Because of your great sin and hostility,
you say, “The prophets are crazy
and the inspired men are fools!”
8 The prophet is a watchman over Israel for my God,
yet traps are laid for him wherever he goes.
He faces hostility even in the house of God.
9 The things my people do are as depraved
as what they did in Gibeah long ago.
God will not forget.
He will surely punish them for their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
7 The days of punishment have come;
The days of recompense have come.
Israel knows!
The prophet is a fool,
The spiritual man is insane,
Because of the greatness of your iniquity and great enmity.
8 The watchman of Ephraim is with my God;
But the prophet is a fowler’s snare in all his ways—
Enmity in the house of his God.
9 They are deeply corrupted,
As in the days of Gibeah.
He will remember their iniquity;
He will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — New Century Version (NCV)
7 The time of punishment has come,
the time to pay for sins.
Let Israel know this:
You think the prophet is a fool,
and you say the spiritual person is crazy.
You have sinned very much,
and your hatred is great.
8 Is Israel a watchman?
Are God’s people prophets?
Everywhere Israel goes, traps are set for him.
He is an enemy in God’s house.
9 The people of Israel have gone deep into sin
as the people of Gibeah did.
The Lord will remember the evil things they have done,
and he will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)
7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the man that hath the spirit is mad, for the abundance of thine iniquity, and because the enmity is great. 8 Ephraim was a watchman with my God: as for the prophet, a fowler’s snare is in all his ways, and enmity in the house of his God. 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
7 The days of visitation are come; the days of recompence are come: Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the inspired man is mad, because of the greatness of thine iniquity, and the great enmity. 8 Is Ephraim a watchman with my God? nay the prophet is a fowler’s snare on all his ways, enmity in the house of his God. 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
7 The time for them to be punished will come.
The time for them to pay for their sins will come.
⸤When this happens,⸥ Israel will know it.
⸤They think that⸥ prophets are fools
and that spiritual people are crazy.
They have sinned a lot, and they are very hostile.
8 Prophets are God’s watchmen over Ephraim.
Yet, traps are set on every prophet’s path,
and people are hostile in the temple of their God.
9 People have deeply corrupted themselves as they once did at Gibeah.
God will remember their wickedness
and punish them because of their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
7 The days of punishment have come;
the days of retribution have come.
Let Israel recognize it!
The prophet is a fool,
and the inspired man is insane,
because of the magnitude
of your guilt and hostility.
8 Ephraim’s watchman is with my God.
The prophet encounters a fowler’s snare
on all his ways.
Hostility is in the house of his God!
9 They have deeply corrupted themselves
as in the days of Gibeah.
He will remember their guilt;
He will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
7 The days of punishment have come,
the days of recompense have come;
Israel cries,
“The prophet is a fool,
the man of the spirit is mad!”
Because of your great iniquity,
your hostility is great.
8 The prophet is a sentinel for my God over Ephraim,
yet a fowler’s snare is on all his ways,
and hostility in the house of his God.
9 They have deeply corrupted themselves
as in the days of Gibeah;
he will remember their iniquity,
he will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
7 The days of punishment have come;
the days of retribution have come;
Israel knows!
The prophet is a fool,
the man of the spirit is acting like a madman.
Because of the greatness of your sin,
your hostility is great.
8 The prophet keeps watch over Ephraim for my God;
the snare of a fowler is on all his ways,
and hostility in the house of his God.
9 They deeply corrupted themselves
as in the days of Gibeah;
he will remember their sin,
he will punish their sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
7 The time when God will punish you is coming.
The day when he will judge you is near.
I want you to know that.
You have committed many sins.
And you hate me very much.
That’s why you think I’m foolish.
You think I’m crazy.
But the Lord speaks through me.
8 People of Ephraim, I’m a true prophet.
My God is warning you through me.
But you set traps for me everywhere I go.
You hate me so much
you even wait for me in God’s house.
9 You have sunk very deep into sin,
just as our people did at Gibeah long ago.
God will remember the evil things you have done.
He will punish you for your sins.
Hosea 9:7–9 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
7 The days of punishment have come,
The days of retribution have come;
Let Israel know this!
The prophet is a fool,
The inspired man is demented,
Because of the grossness of your iniquity,
And because your hostility is so great.
8 Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a prophet;
Yet the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways,
And there is only hostility in the house of his God.
9 They have gone deep in depravity
As in the days of Gibeah;
He will remember their iniquity,
He will punish their sins.
