xthey sacrifice meat and eat it,

Hosea 8:11–13 — The New International Version (NIV)

11 “Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings,

these have become altars for sinning.

12 I wrote for them the many things of my law,

but they regarded them as something foreign.

13 Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to me,

and though they eat the meat,

the Lord is not pleased with them.

Now he will remember their wickedness

and punish their sins:

They will return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin,

Altars shall be unto him to sin.

12 I have written to him the great things of my law,

But they were counted as a strange thing.

13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it;

But the Lord accepteth them not;

Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins:

They shall return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — New Living Translation (NLT)

11 “Israel has built many altars to take away sin,

but these very altars became places for sinning!

12 Even though I gave them all my laws,

they act as if those laws don’t apply to them.

13 The people love to offer sacrifices to me,

feasting on the meat,

but I do not accept their sacrifices.

I will hold my people accountable for their sins,

and I will punish them.

They will return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

11 “Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin,

They have become for him altars for sinning.

12 I have written for him the great things of My law,

But they were considered a strange thing.

13 For the sacrifices of My offerings they sacrifice flesh and eat it,

But the Lord does not accept them.

Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins.

They shall return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — New Century Version (NCV)

11 “Although Israel built more altars to remove sin,

they have become altars for sinning.

12 I have written many teachings for them,

but they think the teachings are strange and foreign.

13 The Israelites offer sacrifices to me as gifts

and eat the meat,

but the Lord is not pleased with them.

He remembers the evil they have done,

and he will punish them for their sins.

They will be slaves again as they were in Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — American Standard Version (ASV)

11 Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning. 12 I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing. 13 As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

11 Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin. 12 I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted as a strange thing. 13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

11 “The more altars that the people of Ephraim build

to make offerings to pay for their sins,

the more places they have for sinning.

12 I have written many things for them in my teachings,

but they consider these things strange and foreign.

13 They offer sacrifices to me and eat the meat of sacrifices,

but I, the Lord, do not accept these sacrifices.

Now I will remember their wickedness

and punish them because of their sins.

They will go back to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

11 When Ephraim multiplied his altars for sin,

they became his altars for sinning.

12 Though I were to write out for him

ten thousand points of My instruction,

they would be regarded as something strange.

13 Though they offer sacrificial gifts

and eat the flesh,

the Lord does not accept them.

Now He will remember their guilt

and punish their sins;

they will return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

11 When Ephraim multiplied altars to expiate sin,

they became to him altars for sinning.

12 Though I write for him the multitude of my instructions,

they are regarded as a strange thing.

13 Though they offer choice sacrifices,

though they eat flesh,

the Lord does not accept them.

Now he will remember their iniquity,

and punish their sins;

they shall return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

11 When Ephraim multiplied altars

to expiate sins,

they became to him altars to sin on.

12 I write for him myriads of my instruction;

they are regarded as a strange thing.

13 They offer sacrifices of my choice

and they eat flesh;

Yahweh does not accept them.

Now he will remember their iniquity

and punish their sins;

they will return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

11 “Ephraim built many altars where they sacrificed

sin offerings to other gods.

So their altars have become

places where they commit sin.

12 I wrote down many things in my law for their good.

But they considered my laws as something strange.

13 They offer sacrifices to me.

They eat the meat of the animals they bring.

But I am not pleased with any of that.

I will remember the evil things they have done.

I will punish them for their sins.

And they will return to Egypt.

Hosea 8:11–13 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

11 Since Ephraim has multiplied altars for sin,

They have become altars of sinning for him.

12 Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law,

They are regarded as a strange thing.

13 As for My sacrificial gifts,

They sacrifice the flesh and eat it,

But the Lord has taken no delight in them.

Now He will remember their iniquity,

And punish them for their sins;

They will return to Egypt.
