Habakkuk 3:16–18 — The New International Version (NIV)

16 I heard and my heart pounded,

my lips quivered at the sound;

decay crept into my bones,

and my legs trembled.

Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity

to come on the nation invading us.

17 Though the fig tree does not bud

and there are no grapes on the vines,

though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no food,

though there are no sheep in the pen

and no cattle in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

16 When I heard, my belly trembled;

My lips quivered at the voice:

Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself,

That I might rest in the day of trouble:

When he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom,

Neither shall fruit be in the vines;

The labour of the olive shall fail,

And the fields shall yield no meat;

The flock shall be cut off from the fold,

And there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — New Living Translation (NLT)

16 I trembled inside when I heard this;

my lips quivered with fear.

My legs gave way beneath me,

and I shook in terror.

I will wait quietly for the coming day

when disaster will strike the people who invade us.

17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,

and there are no grapes on the vines;

even though the olive crop fails,

and the fields lie empty and barren;

even though the flocks die in the fields,

and the cattle barns are empty,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord!

I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

16 When I heard, my body trembled;

My lips quivered at the voice;

Rottenness entered my bones;

And I trembled in myself,

That I might rest in the day of trouble.

When he comes up to the people,

He will invade them with his troops.

17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,

Nor fruit be on the vines;

Though the labor of the olive may fail,

And the fields yield no food;

Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,

And there be no herd in the stalls—

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — New Century Version (NCV)

16 I hear these things, and my body trembles;

my lips tremble when I hear the sound.

My bones feel weak,

and my legs shake.

But I will wait patiently for the day of disaster

that will come to the people who attack us.

17 Fig trees may not grow figs,

and there may be no grapes on the vines.

There may be no olives growing

and no food growing in the fields.

There may be no sheep in the pens

and no cattle in the barns.

18 But I will still be glad in the Lord;

I will rejoice in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — American Standard Version (ASV)

16 I heard, and my body trembled,

My lips quivered at the voice;

Rottenness entereth into my bones, and I tremble in my place;

Because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble,

For the coming up of the people that invadeth us.

17 For though the fig-tree shall not flourish,

Neither shall fruit be in the vines;

The labor of the olive shall fail,

And the fields shall yield no food;

The flock shall be cut off from the fold,

And there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah,

I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

16 I heard, and my belly trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my place, That I might rest in the day of distress, When their invader shall come up against the people. 17 For though the fig-tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive-tree shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

16 I have heard, so there’s trembling within me.

At the report my lips quivered.

A rotten feeling has entered me.

I tremble where I stand.

I wait for the day of trouble

to come to the people who will attack us.

17 Even if the fig tree does not bloom

and the vines have no grapes,

even if the olive tree fails to produce

and the fields yield no food,

even if the sheep pen is empty

and the stalls have no cattle—

18 even then,

I will be happy with the Lord

I will truly find joy in God, who saves me.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

16 I heard, and I trembled within;

my lips quivered at the sound.

Rottenness entered my bones;

I trembled where I stood.

Now I must quietly wait for the day of distress

to come against the people invading us.

17 Though the fig tree does not bud

and there is no fruit on the vines,

though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no food,

though there are no sheep in the pen

and no cattle in the stalls,

18 yet I will triumph in Yahweh;

I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

16 I hear, and I tremble within;

my lips quiver at the sound.

Rottenness enters into my bones,

and my steps tremble beneath me.

I wait quietly for the day of calamity

to come upon the people who attack us.

17 Though the fig tree does not blossom,

and no fruit is on the vines;

though the produce of the olive fails

and the fields yield no food;

though the flock is cut off from the fold

and there is no herd in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;

I will exult in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

16 I hear and my stomach shakes;

my lips quiver at the sound;

infection enters my bones;

that which is beneath me trembles;

I wait quietly for the day of trouble

to come upon the people attacking us.

17 Though the fig tree does not blossom,

nor there be fruit on the vines;

the yield of the olive tree fails,

and the cultivated fields do not yield food;

the flock is cut off from the animal pen,

and there is no cattle in the stalls,

18 Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh;

I will exult in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

16 I listened and my heart pounded.

My lips trembled at the sound.

My bones seemed to rot.

And my legs shook.

But I will be patient.

I’ll wait for the day of trouble to come on Babylonia.

It’s the nation that is attacking us.

17 The fig trees might not bud.

The vines might not produce any grapes.

The olive crop might fail.

The fields might not produce any food.

There might not be any sheep in the pens.

There might not be any cattle in the barns.

18 But I will still be glad

because of what the Lord has done.

God my Savior fills me with joy.

Habakkuk 3:16–18 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

16 I heard and my inward parts trembled,

At the sound my lips quivered.

Decay enters my bones,

And in my place I tremble.

Because I must wait quietly for the day of distress,

For the people to arise who will invade us.

17 Though the fig tree should not blossom

And there be no fruit on the vines,

Though the yield of the olive should fail

And the fields produce no food,

Though the flock should be cut off from the fold

And there be no cattle in the stalls,

18 Yet I will exult in the Lord,

I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
