6 I am raising up the Babylonians,

that ruthless and impetuous people,

who sweep across the whole earth

to seize dwellings not their own.

7 They are a feared and dreaded people;

they are a law to themselves

and promote their own honor.

6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation,

Which shall march through the breadth of the land,

To possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.

7 They are terrible and dreadful:

Their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.

6 I am raising up the Babylonians,

a cruel and violent people.

They will march across the world

and conquer other lands.

7 They are notorious for their cruelty

and do whatever they like.

6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans,

A bitter and hasty nation

Which marches through the breadth of the earth,

To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.

7 They are terrible and dreadful;

Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.

6 I will use the Babylonians,

those cruel and wild people

who march across the earth

and take lands that don’t belong to them.

7 They scare and frighten people.

They do what they want to do

and are good only to themselves.

6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs. 7 They are terrible and dreadful; their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.

6 For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, which marcheth through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs. 7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.

6 I am going to send the Babylonians, 

that fierce and reckless nation. 

They will march throughout the earth 

to take possession of lands that don’t belong to them. 

7 They will be terrifying and fearsome. 

They will carry out their own kind of justice and honor. 

6 Look! I am raising up the Chaldeans,

that bitter, impetuous nation

that marches across the earth’s open spaces

to seize territories not its own.

7 They are fierce and terrifying;

their views of justice and sovereignty

stem from themselves.

6 For I am rousing the Chaldeans,

that fierce and impetuous nation,

who march through the breadth of the earth

to seize dwellings not their own.

7 Dread and fearsome are they;

their justice and dignity proceed from themselves.

6 For look! I am raising up the Chaldeans,

the bitter and impetuous nation,

the one who walks through the spacious places of earth

to take possession of dwellings not belonging to it.

7 They are dreadful and awesome;

their justice and their dignity proceed from themselves.

6 I am going to send the armies of Babylonia to attack you.

They are very mean. They move quickly.

They sweep across the whole earth.

They take over places

that do not belong to them.

7 They terrify others.

They do not recognize any laws but their own.

That is how proud they are.

6 “For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans,

That fierce and impetuous people

Who march throughout the earth

To seize dwelling places which are not theirs.

7 “They are dreaded and feared;

Their justice and authority originate with themselves.
